No I don't autocross, so I'm sure I would get a little more miles out of them.. idk, I haven't totally made up my mind yet on whether or not to get them.
People say not to get them if you don't autocross, but what about the fact that they're a very high performance tire for a decent price? I think bang for buck they will be hard to beat.

Try the Hankook RS2...another bargain ultra performance tire.

Great tire for the money, but also have a look at the Hankook RS2's. The Kumho MX's are great too.

Why do some say the Falken 615 are loud and some say they are not. Some say they are louder than stock tires, some say quieter?

Subjective opinion?

IMO, the RT615s are not as loud as stock due to them not being as stiff.

Like most new tires, the RT615s NEED to be driven before really pushed. They tend to be a bit squirmy when new.

It's called math.

RT615 = 10,000miles and $117 ea 245/45/17
BFG gforce sport = 30,000 and $107ea 245/40/17

Same applies for

ES100
SPT
HTZ R II

But even less expensive.

I already gave you recommendations.

I have 30k miles on my car and have worn through 2 sets of 070's, one set of rt-215's, and I have one event left on the 615's. I run about 5 events(autoX) on each set of tires due to all the switching around that I do. I have an 04 that sees all-season winter tires from mid Nov to end of Feb too. So, yeah, a few events and about 6k miles for me for a set of tires.

I really liked the 615's. Almost as much as the 070's. The reason why I tried the 615's was due to the sizes that are available (245/45/17's for me). I plan on trying the RE-01r's in 245/40/17 as my next tire. The cost of the tire is not too important to me but the 615's @ $110/ea in 245/45/17 is a damn good bang for the buck.

I don't really autocross but i sometimes like to take corners fairly aggressive. I very seldom get any squeal out of my stockers if that gives you any idea of my driving style. I do take my car to the dragstrip a few times a year though. It is my daily driver and i don't really feel like having to change my tires when i do go to the track. Also i don't mind getting new tires every 12-15k miles but 10k would be sooner than i would like. Any price cheaper that the stockers would be acceptable.Given these facts, what tire would you suggest.

I was also set on the rt-615's but i'm not quite so sure now as 75% of my focus is on straight line driving and only 25% cornering.

jsm,
Look into the Hankook RS2s. A bit cheaper then the RT615s, better water resistance, should wear as good or better (not sure) and still are a max performance tire in the same class as the RT615s.

Another good option considering your driving style is the Khumo MX.

I gave you recommendations, BFG gforce sport is a very good tire, good grip, good price, a little extra width and will give you good wear.

I've been looking at these to replace my stockers too. But I like the stiffness of the RE070s, so I think I'm going to stick with them. I got 15k on them right now and they're pretty bald. I tend to like to test their limits. No autox for me yet. Soon, though.

I am satisfied, for the price. 245/45R17 BTW.
are you running these on the stock BBS? What's the widest width you can get on the stockers?

I like my RT615s. On for about a week, with one track day as of today. Great grip and very predictable, but I literally lost over half the rubber on my fronts this morning alone. You pay to play I guess. I'll probably check out the BFGs next for better wear.
