Default Wider RE070s Possible?

Hello

Seems theres a large following for the RE070 here.
I mean why not? Its basically a thinly disguised racing tire that one can get decent wear from and oh, that sidewall...

For alot of us, the stock size is plenty, but, my question is how many of us would buy the tire if it was offered in, say, 245 or 255? Next, would it even be possible to have this put into action? or is too much for a small group of people to inspire a company to expand a line of tires?

Lets see?

the 225/45/17 is the only DOT approved size for the RE070. so unless you can convince the government to approve the other sizes (which i wouldn't mind) your outta luck.

I am about to try just that. I had a sidewall failure due to a puncture on my RE070s (w/ 20,000 miles on them) and my buddy has a set of the Advans with 5000 miles on them. They should fit fine but I may have to raise the car a little so it won't rub.

The only ones I have seen in an 18 is the re050A, re050 Pole Position, re050RFT, and re0750..

Excellent let us know how they work for you as I think They are one of the best OEM/non-OEM tires out there

isn't the JDM RE070 a 235/45 tire? I'm also pretty sure that the JDM NSX-R is shod in RE070s but I don't know the size off-hand. Hmmm...

You are correct. The JDM STi comes with 235/45/17 RE070's. Also some NSX (im not sure which 1) comes with RE070's also, and I would assume atleast the rear would be wider than 225 or even 235.

there are no other sizes for the re070 because bridgestone engineered/designed the tire specifically for the STi....
it didn't exist before our car was here....

i would also like to get a set of the 235/45-17 JDM RE070s. wonder why Subaru had to give the US a 225 version. you could always talk to one of the vendors that get shipments from Japan to include some RE070s on the next shipment. that's if you don't mind having a set of tires that aren't legal to drive on US roads.

Thats what I run. I've got several sets. IMO they're a better track tire than the 070's. Just as much grip and don't get greasy like the 070's. As far as wet they're better there too. Just my opinion tho. I know there are better tires out there, but these were free.
