Default UPS butchered my Gold BBS wheel - HELP!!!!!!! *PICS*

I bought a set of 4 Gold BBS wheels here on IWSTI and they were GREAT except UPS damaged one of them by dropping the box. The wheel has a very large chip about 1.5 inches long right on the lip and I just looked at the box and it is damaged EXACTLY where the damage on the wheel was and the length of the damage on the box is the exact same length as the damage on the wheel. So some jackass from UPS definitely dropped it and messed up my wheel!

I just called UPS to file a claim and they're coming to pick the wheel up on Monday and then it goes to an inspector who decides if UPS was at fault or not, which they clearly were from the damage on the box and the whole process will take like 2 weeks, then they'll mail a check to the SHIPPER and not me and he would have to cash it and then send it to me or something because I can't cash a check in his name. Also it was only insured for $200 and I don't think i'd be able to find someone selling a 1 used wheel for $200, cheapest I found was $300 on eBay for one damaged worse than mine! This sucks.

If I can get this fixed cheap locally for like 30 bucks I would MUCH rather do that than deal with UPS, I have until Monday when UPS comes to pick it up to get it fixed. So does anyone know if this damage can easily be fixed? Can I do it myself or would I have to have a place do it? I found a wheel repair ship but they charge a flat $129 fee and that seems very high.

Please help me!

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. From what I can tell, the damage is cosmetic (paint) only, meaning there's no damage to the wheel dynamic. If it balances out okay without problems on wheel balance machine, then I say it's perfectly fine. Either use touch up paint or have the whole set painted or powdercoated. I think you can get the set painted for few hundred bucks. Good luck.

sorry to hear about the damages...
i would definity get it fixed instead of buying new wheels. i think you can get whole wheels powercoated for around 200-300 so it will match better. or just paint that one, just make sure you have exact paint code

I really would prefer to just touch up that one little area or something rather than do the whole wheel.

I called around and the best price I could get locally was $100 to paint 1 wheel or $380 for all 4 wheels. I don't want to spend $380 and if I just get 1 painted it won't match the other 3 wheels perfectly.

Is there anyway I can just touch up this one little area? Even if it doesn't look PERFECT, just good enough so people don't notice it unless they're really looking hard?

Stupid ups...

Get touch up paint and put it on the rim. wet sand it and get it to match the best you can. Call BBS for the paint.

When I was in shipping there had to be a certain amount of padding around the object for UPS to claim responsibility. I think it was something like 2 inches.... I could be wrong. Of course, they dont tell you that when you ship it out. Good luck with the claim, I hope they repair the wheel for you.

There was bubble wrap around it but I don't think it was 2 inches.

It would look silly. The clear coat magnifies the color.
