Seriously though, if they are stiffer, great, anyone have actual tests to prove it beyond butt gforce dynos?

I'm not knocking them, because they are great tires, i would like some proof instead of heresay though, as i have not seen actual proof yet in this thread.
i stand right by you. i have a potenza sitting in my garage and would be happy to do a test on it if someone told me how to do so and if someone could do the same with a rt615.

I would like to know why are so many here changing the tire size when changing to the Falkens RT-615 from the OEM tire size?
What are the big differences with the Falkens compared to the stockers?

Comparisons please...(pro/cons) would be great for those considering on getting these tires.
Thanks in advance.

Its funny cause I dont remember getting a BOV but what I did get was a Forge BPV thats 100% recirculated oh my bad I didnt know that was bad for my car. Hey fool dont be mad cause you spent $850 for Ecutek and a street tune from Renick and your car was no faster then a stock STI, its cool though right cause your mom paid for it.

oh god, here we go.....

But anyways, I don't think you can test sidewall stiffness by bouncing them around your garage.

No doubt that the RT615's have a stiff sidewall - and they're an awsome tire for the price - but if money isn't an issue, I'd stick with the RE070 - it is a bada$$ tire in my opinion. Grip is awsome, i've had no issue with wet grip, I'm at 16000 miles with about 40% tread left - and they look great too.

On a side note, while getting them mounted on my new rims last week, the tech said that these were the stiffest tires he'd ever worked on - a PITA to remove and remount onto rims.

width...re070 are only 225...wider = more traction especially with a stiff sidewall thrown in giving you the rt615

the differences i'd say is the different sizes you can get and that the re070 probably have a slightly stiffer sidewall than the rt615, but nothing too noticeable.

i love my rt615 and wouldn't get any other tire unless someone else has something as nice

Haters crack me up!

Maybe it is just me but I am going thru tires like water. My Khumos lasted like 7 months. Am I the only one going thru tires like this?

I think the RT-615s won't last long at all.

I payed $470 shipped for a set of 245/45-17's Azenis ($99 a tire I think). The cheapest I could find for the RE070's is $180 a piece (without shipping). In my opinion this is why a lot of people go away from the OEM tires plus they are wider. Also, when you go through 2 sets a summer you probably want to stay away from the Bridgestones.

I love the RE070s but its just not cool burning them up on the track when you could've put all that money into something else on your car.

Now, about the tire stiffness tester. You could cut the sidewalls and see how many layers of steel (or whatever) each tire has. Or, you could take a few dumbell weights and put them on top of the tire in increments of 10-20lbs and measure how much it sags. You could actually dork it up even more and plot it in excel (dang I felt weird saying that) and compare slopes.

ok here the deal .. the RE070 is alot stiffer then the rt615..
My friend has the rt615 and it was flat and by just looking at it you could tell it was flat . When i had a flat in the rear left tire on my stock ones you could not even tell it was flat and when i hooked up the tire gauge it read 4 psi .. right there it tells you the side wall on the RE070 is alot stiffer

Yea I agree with you RT615 are best bang for the buck because usually you could get them for around $500 but if money is not an issue or you can get a really good deal on them I would preferably stick with the RE070's. I think most people would love to stick to the RE070's but they do not cause the Rt615's are way cheaper. But if you do not speak of prices and you just compare the tires, which tires are better?

The Bridgestone 070's are a better tire since they are built for the STi specifically. Their spring rate is made for the STi, and the rollstiffness was tuned for the STi with those tires on it. However define better?? $180 a tire vs $100 for azenis and probably faster laptimes on the azenis in my opinion is well worth going away from the OEM tires. If I was driving my STi on the street ONLY, and the casual Scenic drive here and there, yes I would get the Bridgestones, probably the R1's. But when I pay $180 a tire and destroy them in three-four weeks at 2-3 track events than I don't see any use in them anymore.

Its like the new Advans. I know that Yokohama is the sh** and that their facilities and engineering is awesome regarding tires but $240 a pop!!! I love going to the track and autocross events and seeing guys on Kuhmos or Azenis smoke the guys with $240 tires.

IMO it is a waste of money if you race your Impreza on OEM tires. It's like buying OEM brake pads and then going to the track on them.

I love the way the RE070's feel through the steering wheel. Honestly, I'd probably run them all the time if they weren't so expensive. If the price was close to the same as the Azenis, I'd buy the Bridgestones.

But soon I'll have Toyo RA1's for the track, and something else for the street... probably RS2's because they've got decent wet grip and excellent dry grip, they're also dirt cheap.
