Default bigger wheels handles better?

hello.

ok a friend of mine told me that bigger wheels handles better. i mean how so? i thought handling depends on the width of the wheel?

for example a comparison between the following:

18 x 8.5
17 x 8.5

my friend would say the 18 x 8.5 will handle better and i forgot the reason he said...

please verify this thanks.

Smaller wheels generally mean less unsprung weight and rotating mass, in this case the smaller wheel(if it is indeed lighter) performs better...however, if the 18 is lighter, then it will perform better.

I have heard that 18s would handle better too, dont remember why either, but I cant think of any reasons

the reason is that a lower sidewall gives less roll and a sharper turn in...

but the fastest cars in the world use 13 inch wheels, lightness is always better

a tire with a stiff sidewall will make up for it
