Default 255/40R17 Will they Fit?

Well I need new track tires again, and am wondering if 255 40 17 will work fine without rubbing. Also would they work on the standard 05 8" wheel? Any thoughts would be great. I think they should work but want to make sure before I order them.

I run the 255/40/17 RT-615 on the stock 05 wheels as well. I'm lowered about 2" and no rubbing issues whatsoever.

Never ever rub? I have JDM pink that lower the car just under 1 inch & I was thinking they would rub.

STIBLITZ - I am lowered on Cobb Springs, Stock Top Hats, Cobb Sways. I currently have 245/45/17 and they do not rub and just wanted to make sure that 255 would be fine. Thanks for everyones feedback, I think I will give them a go! Anyone done these tires on Cobb Springs?

In regards to 255/40 17's:

if you have stock struts you will not rub the strut housing as the spring perch is above the tire.

If you are running coilovers you will rub the spring perch so you'll need spacers of a different offset. if you go with spacers or a different offset you will need to roll the rear fenders.

In regards to 245/45 17's:

On stock springs you'll be fine.

if you lower the car expect the front to rub the liners if you bottom out the suspension. i was getting this on the dragon with 10K front springs, and then this past weekend I actually ripped a fender liner out when I bottomed out the front hard during an autocross. I bumped the front struts to full stiff, and that fixed it, but now I have to install a new liner.

Thanks for the insight. I previuosly had 245 45 17 and they only rubbed when taking hard tight turns.

How do you like them and if you could post a pic that would be great. I am going to replace the Bridgestone's soon and want to put a 255 on the car, but was unsure how they would work.

You can run the on 17x8 wheels. Personally, I think the tires bulge out too much on an 8" wide wheel. I'd go with either 245/45-17 (which is really tall compared to stock) or 235/45-17, which fits pretty good (and is the stock size on the JDM STi).

As for me, I'm running 255/40-17 FK-451 on 17x8.5 wheels.

This is what I was worried about. Does the sidewall roll over in a hard turn?
