I have 245/45's on my stock wheels. I think there are more than a few people around here running that.

I'm also wondering, free bump for you. I'm thinking of going 245/40/17 on stock bbs. Anyone know how heavy is the stock bbs for 05 sti. Thanks.

To be honest... not really. I'm sure it has more grip with the wider rubber, but the on the 7.5" wheel on the '04's the OEM 225 Bridgestones feel a lot better than the 245/45 RT-615's. The 225 is better matched to the width of the rim and the sidewall is stiffer, so it feels like it handles better.

In my mind the main advantage of going with the 245/45 RT-615 is that they cost about $55 less per tire when compared to the OEM RE070's. I go through a lot of tires, so saving $220 a set is a pretty big deal.

you wouldn't have to roll your fenders with that large of a tire?

Nope, not when using a 48 offset 17x8, and that is with even wider r-comp 275's. Would not recommend for the street though.

That question can be answered is too many ways. Are you looking for best bang for your buck? pure summer/performance tire? all around tire?

If me, considering my location( FL) for a pure summer tire:

Falken RT-615
Hankook RS212
Yoko Neova AD07
Bridgestone RE01R

The bottom two are nearly twice the price though.

Doesn't the 245/45 change your gearing as well (slightly). I've heard this a good choice for AutoX because you have "more gear". Is there any rubbing issues turning lock to lock? I've read a lot and I don't know what to believe. I'm due for a new set of tires soon.

i have 255/40/17 rt-615 on my stockers and they are perfect fit.
however i gotta admit on a straight away it was little slower than stockers due to the weight
but as for handling. its awesome. nothing like it. no tire squick
