Default 18x9.5 +27 - What do I need? I need t3h_clap

I've been straying away from even attempting this but I can't hold back anymore. I've read tons of stuff, including the blog but I think I still need to be pointed towards exactly which coilovers would suit me best, which width tires for this size wheel and who to trust with the install/modifications.

This would be street only, and I would like a bit softer spring for that. I live in NY, near NYC but I don't know of any shops that can/are known to tackle a job like this. Since the 05+ fenders don't get "rolled", more like reconstructed I want a reputable shop.

Ideas?

alright.

what camber are you willing to run?

what's your budget?

have you already bought the wheels? (Hopefully no).

main reason for the wheels? Looks/Performance/both (one more than the other)?

desired Tire sizes?

desired uses for said wheels?

# of street miles driven and desired tire life?

you can PM the budget info if you want to keep it off the boards.

I can help you pick out a setup that will meet your needs of both looks, performance and budget but I need some more info.

I have an 07 STi. I'm actually leaning towards the same thing. But i'm also leaning towards Fender Flareds, so if that will be the case...18x10.5 with 20-25 offset...still debating that. The Wheels would be the SSR MS1's. This will be agressive, i know...but a friend of mine owns a reputable bodyshop so cost of fender work isnt an issue. The issue is the clearance from the inner part of the rim from the strut. Thats my issue. I love the Time Attack look, also ive been in the German scene before i had my STi so i always Ran low offets and pulled fenders. Pay to play i guess. So what you think Clap?

I'll post here so others can have the info easily if they end up in the same situation.

what camber are you willing to run?
Whatever is needed. As far as looks go I would want it to be negative.

what's your budget?
Wheels are priced already, but I'd like to get coilovers & camber plates for around ~1500 if possible.

have you already bought the wheels? (Hopefully no).
No, they are only making 15 sets and I have to put my order in now to get them in 4 weeks.

main reason for the wheels? Looks/Performance/both (one more than the other)?
In this case, looks then performance

desired Tire sizes?
Don't have one, but I do not like the stretched tire look so I guess 245 is the minimum.

desired uses for said wheels?
Street only, daily driving.

# of street miles driven and desired tire life?
100% street, tire life itself isnt a big concern but Im sure ill end up with 615's like everyone else.

to run that offset wheel you're going to need to run alot of camber.

upwards for -3.0 front and -2.5 rear.

and you'll need to modify the rear fenders too.

as for coilovers you could buy used and save a good bit of money and still get a quality setup with plates front and rear.

you see this?

tire size is going to be dictated by the amount of fender mods you run, amount of camber you run and the ride height.

who's car are you trying to emulate here?

that +27mm is pretty low for a 9.5" wheel

generally the 05 STi's prefer closer to +35mm.

what wheels are you looking at getting?

Yeah I read that, which is why I was a bit weary of who to let do this to my car. It looks like a lot of work that could go wrong.

I agree 27 is pretty nuts, but it's the only offset this wheel comes in.

Set up on an 06, Looks like he got them to fit pretty easily -> enkie NT03+M 18X9 1/2 new tires! - NASIOC

+27 nt03 +m will not fit, you need about a 15mm spacer in the front to clear brembos. I run them in +40 with a 10mm front spacer and the +27 have even less brake clearance.

I don't want to stray off the original topic I created but if this is going to be pretty rough to do I may go with this instead.

The Advan RZ - but I am unsure to the size for this. Would I be better off with: 18x8.5 +31 or 18x9 +35?
