Exclamation Tire Overall Diameter limitations per TIA for MY04-07 STIs

I attended a 3 day course TIA course this week... Tire Industry Association - TIA

They recommend to not run tires on your vehicle that are 3% larger OR smaller in overall diameter. So, when replacing your wheels and/or tires on MY04-07 STIs (OEM RE070 overall diameter = 24.9") you do NOT want to run a tire that is smaller than 24.2" or larger than 25.7" in overall diameter, when rounding to the nearest tenth.

However, I believe SOA does not recommend changing the overall diameter period... but they also stuck me w/ a sh!t tune so F-<K em, IMO.

Just a heads up for when you are searching for tires. I also want to apologize for this thread... Why do you run a 245/40ZR18 or bigger?

Oh, and I run a 245/40ZR18 RT-615 w/ a OD of 25.6 and I love em but I would really like to go w/ a 265/35. FWIW.

This isn't church...you can't sling 'rules' around and expect people to take them at face value.

You should probably explain WHY the TIA doesn't want people deviating more than 3%

Maybe it has something to do with a braking distance increase?? I'm sure we could put a list together very quickly not to go over 3% and another for 3% and over.

It most likely has to do with odometer readings and not safety. Please elaborate OP.
