Should I paint my rims ?? - Page 2

I want to paint my Forged rims too but the New Paint wont be as durable and scratch resist as the original..

I'm thinking of powdercoating my stock BBS wheels to either gunmetal or that sick blue the Volk TE37 mags come in.

Anyone happen to have examples?

man, mag blue would look sick, as well as ox blood red (IStoSTI)

yes, i think your right.
However, i think if we were to get contact with curbs and so forth with either or factory/powder coat/home job etc... scratch resistant is not a possibility.No rim is going maintain its pretty color unless we get rubber [lip] sized tires to prevent contact.
Im very sad rt now. i am going back to silver bbs in less than an hr.
ive run out of time to trade.No choice[long story].And im not going to throw out brand new bbs silvers.

Why not keep them silver? I have practically the exact same setup as you do: 2006 White STI with silver rims and tinted windows.

I guess if I were to change it up, I'd probably go with dark gold rims with a splash of green somewhere. I've seen this on several white STI's before. the gold and green combo sounds absolutely terrible, but looks great.

yea i still never pained them... I do like the white silver look. Maybe when i get bored of it ill change it up lol

if you spray the rims black or any color, you have to get lowered on coils or springs. itll look like a monster truck without a drop...i painted my stock silvers gold then lowered my car an inch. everything looks much cleaner.

as long as it is not glossy black. white on gold is still my favorite tho.

I have an 05 Aspen White and i painted mine Bronze. Cost about $60 after paint, clear coat, sand paper, tape, index cards... I'll be posting up my DIY soon.

Took me about 5 hours to do all 4 with a VERY rushed prep job (in terms of sanding).

picture is pretty dark, i had just finished detailing the RSX when i took that... but you can get an idea...

I decided to go with bronze because everyone does black/gun metal (which look really good) but i wanted to be different. I always wanted white/gold so i decided bronze was a good compromise.

Thanks bud, i'm very happy with them myself. They're different than the common gold, black, and gunmetal and also dark enough that they don't look bad when caked with brake dust.
