OK just so I don't have to keep asking.

If I find an 8.5 wheel what would be a good offset range? 42-45mm?

And if I find a 8' wheel what would be a good offset range? 38-40mm?

Thanks,

Jay

i'd still stay between a 42 and a 45 for an 8" as well.

the offset effects the top of the tire alot where the width effects the base of the tire (if that makes sense).

Not really, but I'll take your word on it

Take it from someone with about 4mm of tire-to-strut clearance:

This **** is important.

imagine:

taking a tire as one unit and moving it outwards/inwards (offset change).

vs.

taking a tire and leaving it where it is but stretching it from the bead (width change).

that make more sense?

you really don't want to go below a 40 offset on a normal street driven subaru.

and +45mm is a nice sweet spot for the 05+ STi's (for both 8", 8.5" and 9").

Yes, that makes sense to me!

I'm getting a price from World One on a set of these Volk RE30s in 18x8.5 +44 5x114.3 Mercury Silver with RE01's mounted and balanced.

I know the price is going to be around $3,500 - $4,000 I'm guessing... I really have no idea...

But in any event, it's probably going to be outside of my price range...

I thought I would emial a bunch of the Vendors and see what kinds of prices come out of them for comparison reasons.

Yup just as I suspected, pretty much $4,000 for the Volks and tires...

Just got another quote on some Rotas SVN's/tire package for $2,000 shipped.

Ahhhh what to do....????

Get some Enkeis from TireRack. They sell them, and they're light + strong.
