and the 18x8.5 +52mm do clear brembos for both the CE28N and RE30.

the fitment is pretty standard no hassles.

the offset is too high if you plan on running 255s and coilovers.

but it works nicely for a car equipped on stock struts.

it's no where near aggressive if that's the look you're going for.
Perfect thanks! So a more aggressive look would be with a lower offset... say like a +48 or something like that right?

more aggressive would be a +40mm. (that's the next size that clears brembos).

but anything with a lower offset will be "more aggressive".

OK I found another set of wheels that I would like some advice on.

SSR GT2 18x9.5 +21 with brand new 245/40/18

Is this a good deal, will they fit with no issues?

I'm on stock struts with prodrive springs... Don't really plan on anything else suspension wise anytime soon...

Thanks,

Jay

You're the wheel-buying Dr. Jekyl, my friend.

Clap's blog helps a lot. What kind of tire are you trying to run?

Just the regular 235/40/18 tires...

I'm trying my hardest to keep my cost under $2,000 (for both wheels and tires) which is why I'm trying to find a good set of used wheels and tires or used wheels and new tires....

I would really like some Volk, Rays, Work, SSR, Enkei, but finding some in my local area is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. And most people who sell on IWSTI and NASIOC don't like to ship to Canada...

So it's ether buy a used set of the above, or buy a new set of.... (I'm scared to say it around Clap R-R-R-R-Rota's....)

I know a lot of people on here are not huge fan of Rotas but they do fit the budget very well.

After my track event next wednesday my tires are going to be BALD! So I'm kind of in a hurry which ususally isn't good when trying to find a good set of used wheels!

And because there is so few people selling wheels around my area, and even less selling wheels specific for STI's it's prooving to be quite difficult

So I'll probably keep posting up on this thread for advice and fitment questions as I see them!

Again, I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me so far (and hopefully in the future too!)

I can't thank you enough!

Jay

it's possible to be in that area while staying away from crappy wheels.

it just takes some searching.

which tires are you looking at specifically?

My first choice would be RE01's... but they are $320/tire here in Canada I found a set of stock size brand new for $1,000 but would still need to spend the money to get them mounted and balanced. I could probably get the guy down to maybe $800.... But the arn't size 18's...

I hear pretty good things about the Azenis RT-615 too...

Or possibly the Dunlop Star Specs....

I really like the look of the OZ Ultraleggera, Enkei GTC-01's or the SSR Type C RS, Work Emotion CR-KAI's

Just thinking about my tire size of 235/40/18. Do I really need a 8.5 wide wheel or will a 8' wide be sufficient?

Is the only benefit of going to an 8.5' wheel the ability of putting on a lot wider tire?

Last question, can an 8.5' wheel with a certain offset look exactly like an 8' with a different offset?

First, no. 235/45 is the stock tire size on the car in Japan. It fits an 8" wheel quite well.

Second, a 255 fits very well on an 8.5" wheel, but if you're autocrossing, tire width can change class. Make damn sure you're getting the right size on all counts.

Third: yes. It can, but that will depend on the face used (most wheels have two or more "faces" which are used).

^^ Thanks. As of right now, I have no plans to AutoX my car. I'm pretty much 100% Street driving.

So really, for me, there wouldn't be any great benefit by going with an 8.5 wheel over an 8' wheel. (since I don't plan on slapping 255's or greater size tires on the car)

you should be able to get a set of 18x8.5 Emotion CR Kai's in a +43mm offset with a 235/40/18 RT615 or Dunlop for close to $2200.

if you find an 18x8 you like then you could be set, but there are alot of 18x8.5s that will work nicely.

In the US maybe... but once I include shipping, Duty, Taxes the price is more like $3,000!
