Widest tire on a stock 07 STi rim

What's the widest tire width I can fit on a stock 07 STi rim?

people put up to 275's fpr auto x'ing but for a street tire 255.

Is there a reason you want to get the maximum width? I would stick to 245s on the stock wheels, unless you are competitively auto-xing. If you are road racing, definitely would not advise any size greater than 245 on stock wheels.

either way I say go with a set of 245/40/17 RE01Rs and be set.

no worries of rubbing if you lower the car, and huge amounts of grip.

it is possible to fit it on the 8" wheel but it isn't possible to fit it on the stock wheels without spacers.

I've got a set of 275/40/17s on my Stock BBS's right now and trust me they need a 5mm spacer to clear the struts/trailing arms.

even then they rub slightly on the trailing arm

for a stock wheel it'd say 245 is a great size to stick with.

Currently I have 2 sets of CCW spacers

one set of 15mm hubcentric (wheel and hub)

one set of 5mm hubcentric (hub only)

since i'm on coilovers i needed more than 5mm clearance to clear the struts so i got 15mm spacers and ARP longer wheel studs.

now I use the 5mm spacer in the front to fit my 17x10s with the same 275/40/17

for stock studs i would recommend not buying spacers at all.

there isn't enough engagement to do it comfortably.
