Question Help With Wheel Offset

Hey guys, i just bought on 07' OBP STI and still have my wheels from my RSX. They are 18x7.5 +45. These do not clear the brembo's. What size spacers would i need to make them fit?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

18x8 is the bare minimum.

8.5 and 9" are the norm these days.

If you're gonna get wheels, you might as well get bigger ones while you're at it.

As everyone else has said the tire size will not matter untill you go less than 17" wheels. now I don't know if you are aware of this but offset has to do with the placement of the center in comparison to the outer rim.

he asked a question about making his rims clear brembos. not about tire selection or if his 7.5 wide is good for his car...

clearing brembos is mainly spoke/face design, some have more clearance than the others vice versa, as for how much spacers you need that all depends on your wheels, i would say test fit and measure, to see how much you need, people say dont go over 5mm spacers on stock studs.

spacers lowers the offset of the wheels. with 7.5 wide +45mm offset base, i think it safe to say you can run as much 15mm spacer and not rub. without fender mods.

well hope that helps

i wouldnt worry about the width either and to help answer your question its all going to depend on the type of wheel you have as well. I know the local wheel shops here will let you test fit different sizes so you might start there rather than just ordering a set

a.) too narrow
b.) don't clear brembos

I can understand using spacers to make wide wheels to fit, but using spacers to make skinnier wheels than factory to fit doesn't make much sense.

the point of going to an aftermarket wheel is to improve the handling of the vehicle, going to a narrower wheel will make the car handle worse then prior (assuming same width/compound tires).

if it's a quality set of wheels you can sell them no problem to an RSX owner and use the proceeds to go towards the purchase of wheels that

a.) are wider than factory
b.) clear brembos

they were perfectly good wheels for the RSX but they aren't perfect for an STi.

how hard is it to install wheel studs?do you just tap out the stock ones?what do u use to pull the stud through,an old lug nut?what would you need to run an 18 by 9 wheel with proper sized tires besides the camber bolts? would u need to run extended wheels studs and exteneded lug nuts for this?

it depends on the offset of the wheel and what tire you want to run.

then it depends on what your suspension setup currently is and what you plan to run in the future.

shoot me a PM or an email we can walk through it.
