from what i know, when i bolted up my stock bbs' with ray's extended nuts, i made sure to torque them down to 80lbs. As i was tightening it, it looked like it made contact with the wheel around the taper. some people said it should be fine, but some are saying not? i don't know who to believe.

If it helps, I was at Super Autobacs in Tokyo Bay the other week and I was told by the pit mechanics that it would fit but, since the taper and shape is different it results in uneven torque on the wheel. And this will eventually cause your wheels to fall off as seen the previously posted video. This was with the Kics R26 neo chrono lug nuts, may be different for other lug nuts.

the stock lugs do a have a shorter taper than the aftermarket lugs.

personally, i wouldn't.

no point except for looks.

It's always best to use lugs designed for the wheel you're using.

My information is from Justin at evasive motorsports.

I know, but it's still a video of wheels coming off. Have a flair for the dramatic, Drew!

So tapered lugs are designed for most aftermarket rims? How about Work Emotions? I just bought a set and was looking for lugs.

Sorry if this is a thread jack, but it's on the same topic. I just bought some Volk CE28's. What are my choices with good lugs? I've researched and saw that the Volk lugs are made of aluminum which are too soft and fades easy. Kicks R26 Neo Chro are pretty expensive. Everyone seems to swear by the McGards. Would I have any problems with the "taper" topic?

Edit: Nevermind, I didnt read above that the OP is trying to use after market lugs on OEM stock wheels and that was where the warning about the taper situation came from. I should have no problem with my Volks. My apologies.

Going back to my original post I found out that the "Group A" lugs will work on
stock BBS. Down side is they come in black only.
