bottom line
what? 01R's , Neova's both handle better for DD; and 615 is close?
Is that about it?
Thank you

Just my 02 cents...

I've owned a lot of high performance cars with all kinds of tires on them.
To be honest, the combination of the STi and the RE070's are pretty hard to beat IMO. Sure, the road noise is a little annoying, and the tires sometimes feel skiddish when come to a stop, but that stiff sidewall does make a very big difference in input feel. Now, I have no experience with the RE01 or some of the other tires mentioned specifically in this thread, but I really like how my RE070's feel to me. Now, the only problem is the price... that's kind of hard to get around.

Bottom line is your call - I can only comment on the tires I have used.

If turn in response is your most important factor, you only have one choice: 070.

For me, feel is important, but the gains from the 01r (traction, lower noise, little tramline effect) far outweight the only loss to the 070s:turn in feel.

As a side note, you can also improve turn in feel by fitting a bigger front sway bar. I have the big whiteline bar on the front so with the 01r my turn in feel is still better than stock, but I can still tell the difference between them and the 070s.

Does the RE01r weigh less than the RE070's?

According to tire rack, the 245/40/17 size 01r (what I have) is the same weight as the stock size 070: 27lbs. Stock sized 01r is 1 lbs lighter @ 26lbs.

They are pretty cheap and GRM had an article on these and they compared pretty well against the RE01R and the Advans.

You can get them here.

That's a heavy tire.
