well im getting some 18x8.5 +40 rims this weekend and just wanted to see how aggressive they will look on an sti. so please post some pics of your +40 rims

Well, considering that most Subarus are running +45's or greater, +40 really is a bit more aggressive than average.

But +40 should look good!

until you go to a 9 inch rim... anything in a 8.5 40 plus will still tuck under the wheelwell. If you go to a 9 inch rim and you stay 45+ will be flushed and you could get away without so much rubbing and fender rolling(depending on the wheel of course).

A good example of this is Advan RSs 18x9 in a 45 offset, a guy just recently posted pics of this set up, the wheel will be flushed with the fender but you lose the GTR face since the offset is so much higher to accommodate the wider rim.

The bottom line if you want aggressive go to a 9 inch or wider rim and drop to 35 or lesser offset and you will get the nicer more aggressive look. Of course you have to put more work to get these to fit... fender rolling, camber, .... you get the idea...

oh yea... of course don't forget to take into account tire size... 235/40/18 is most conservative

i had some 17x8 +38 and they stuck out pretty good, actually my tire rubbed the rear fender flare lol.

i've got a pic of my wheels with a +40mm in the rear, but they have 265 tires so it throws the look off some.

the fronts are +30mm the rears are +40mm
