It doesn't matter as long as it is the same diameter. It's a spare, it will go 300 miles, just not handling high G-forces in the turns. I have a full size (diameter) spare in my trunk, I think...

People are missing the obvious....

A spare on a subaru is never meant to be a permanent solution. It's hell on the diff to be driving with different treadpattern/treadwear from tire to tire. So full-size or not you really shouldn't be driving a few hundred miles with your replacement. Now if you did it properly and rotated the spare like my jeep driving buddy... then you're fine... but if you keep a full sized BBS with wheel in the back only for emergencies, then you might be at risk.

That aside, and ignoring concerns with weight and space.... yes I would love to have an extra wheel in an emergency. Donuts/steelies are teh ghey

How in the hell do you have more than (or even close to) a million posts snowboardrWRX???? You have by far the most posts I have ever seen on any forum. Shouldn't that be a red flag to moderators?

Agree with Dave. Most people would not include the full size spare in their tire rotation schedules, leading to massive diff failures as one new tire was paired with the 3 worn ones after a blowout.

As an aside, I'd prefer not to even have to pay for the stock spare. It should be an option, just like the radio was in '04. Those who want something better can buy it without having to pay for the stock crap first. The rest of us can buy a can of fix-o-flat and go on saving gas/brakes/engine wear with our slightly lighter cars.
