Default wheel/tire fitment gouge

Here is some good information if you're curious about fitment or what not of possible wheel/tire combinations that you may be considering for your whip.

This is a link to a tire size calculator. It will aid you in researching if a certain tire and/or wheel combination will fit your car or if a tire will fit a wheel.

Wheel / tire size calculator / comparer - WHEELSMASTER

This calculator is by far the best one I've come across. It lets you compare two different tire/wheel size packages and will help answer questions like how much further will this configuration stick out of my fender? will it fit inside the wheel well? will it come too close to my suspension components? will the tire even fit on the wheel? This should help you guys' immensely if you know about tire aspect ratio's and offsets.

on the left side of the page dial in the stock config of you car (example: 05 STi 225/45 17 x 8.0 et 51).

on the right input whatever sized wheel & tire combination you would like to see.

pay special attention to the speedometer, supension, fenders, and wheel wells notes (scroll down the page a lil). Those things will tell you how much faster/slower your car is really going with larger/smaller wheels, how much the wheel well fills up, clearance between the wheel/tire and suspension components, how much further the wheel sticks out of the wheel well, etc.

This next segment is for 05+ STi's (not sure about '08)

*hint* if you want to lose that "tucked in the fender" look and lose the wheel well gap on an 05+ STi, you should get a wheel/tire package that sticks out around .8 in. further (,which has to do with offset & tire size,) and fills up the wheel well ~10mm more (has to do with wheel size & tire aspect ratio). With 18 x 8.0 et 40mm along with 245/40 sized wheels, this will achieve a flushed look with the fender and fills up the wheel well. It's even more aggressive looking with 255+.

Although you may not need to, adjusting your suspension, such as stiffening and camber changes with coilovers, can prevent rubbage. I've done a TON of research on these cars on how they look with different combinations of tire/wheel sizes and this is what works best on these cars while looking the most aggressive imo.

Try a couple different configurations and watch how the illustrations and info change; it's educational.

Of course this calculator can't guarantee you if a wheel/tire package will fit. It's simply a tool in aiding your research if you are not sure something will fit properly.

There are also other considerations when it comes to fitment such as brake clearance and possible body modifications (rolling fenders). Also, just because a wheel in a certain sized offset will clear the brakes doesn't mean another wheel in the same size offset will clear them as well. So make sure you do thorough research! Do your homework!

As with everything, take this with a grain of salt and come up with your own conclusions.
