Default Falken Ziex ZE-512...any good?

Bought some new rims and considering buying a set of the Falken Ziex ZE-512's because of price but not sure on the quality and thread life. I do not track my car, more of a daily commuter (3-4 days a week) and occasional spirited driving in the hills. Would anyone recommend these for the price? about $420 for the set.

The Ziex 512 is discontinued, Falken replaced this tire with the Ziex 912.

These tires are great all season tires however they are not by any means a performance tire. If you do spirited driving and like Falken tires I would check out the Falken FK452. The FK452 has nice dry traction and does very well in the rain. It also rides well, doesn't make much road noise, and has pretty good tread ware. It's a better choice as it meets what you are looking for in a tire and has good performance in dry/wet conditions.

I'm thinking about those falkens. I've never owned any tires from them. Are they a good performing tire? or are they way off the mark from the OEM.

Cool, looking into other tires aswell like the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport. With the kind of driving I do,are pure summer performance tires the better choice compared to all season? I live in socal..so not too much rain.

I know someone that had those BFG G-spot and they sucked! They didn't last very long and if you look on the discount tire web page and read the reviews they agree.

i have the ziex 225/40/18 and they are what they are, all season tires. If you like to break loose these are the tires to do it with. I would spend a little more money and step up to the RT615. Vulcantire.com has good deals on these. I was able to get 4 for under 500 shipped. Not bad for the price.

I have a friend with those on his 05', he regrets it big time... Not even close to stock performance, pony up for some RT-615's and don't look back.

he expected performance like that of the stock re070 out of an all-season tire?

i had ze512s this winter and they are a lot better than i thought they would be. braking in the snow can be a hair raising experience, but overall grip otherwise was good. in the dry, they performed well but nowhere near the level of the re070s. in the wet, i noticed very little hydroplaning driving like a sane person for the conditions.

I used 512's as my winter tires when I lived in Pittsburgh.....they worked well in the snow and rain, but as soon as it warmed up enough, on went the 070's.

If you need a good/soft daily driver without winter considerations, look at the re01r's.

i'm running the 512's as my dailyd's they're great no complaints what so ever.. but yeah just watch on spirited driving... they're not that sticky,Snow and rain performance they awesome they were my winters this winter and they did great no problems.. I've had them almost for 15000 miles now and they are just now starting to show wear.
