Gentlemen,
First post so take it easy on me. I have a 2006 Steel Gray STi and I'm looking for a unique look. I really like the ROTA p45 in hyperblack 18x8.5. I do like a nice fatter 5 or 6 spoke wheel. I was actually looking to see how a high gloss black 5 spoke wheel would look on a steel gray. I like the way the high gloss black will offset the Gold Brembos. Advice, Comments and Pics greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

define Unique.

anything Rota copies isn't unique.

Unique and Rota do not belong in the same sentence together. That said, there are a lot of choices. It's easy to find the most common stuff, Gram Lights, Rotas, etc. Getting a quality wheel that's unique may be difficult. The less expensive, the less unique (generally speaking).

Also, be careful if you go looking for wheels that are too far off the beaten path, as you may have fitment issues. Make sure they'll fit before you buy them.

You might think about buying a wheel style you like and having it custom painted, though I've already seen some pretty wild variations. You're likely to get a wide array of responses here. You will whenever you ask an opinion question.

My Cliff's Notes: find a style you like and change the color. Make sure you buy a wheel that will fit.

I appreciate the input, I'm just looking for something that's not common on the STi, 5 spoke wheels seem to be rare on these. Just hard to pictures wheels on a steel gray for me, the color will either work or completely look awful. Just though high gloss black would look interesting.

you need to start searching if you think 5 spokes are uncommon.

although if you not seeing it often is enough for you to feel unique then that's all that matters.

Honestly with a high gloss black it doesn't really matter what it looks like, you can't really see the details of the wheel anyway.

Agreed. Black hides the wheel features.

To the OP: check the Show Off Your Wheels sticky at the top of this subforum. There are pages and pages of wheel pics. That'll give you a good idea of what is "common."

IMO Black would look sick.
Search there are plenty of cars with your color and dark even black gloss wheels.
Search the Hella Flush thread.
I think the Advan RS are gunmetal(not black but dark) and those look ****ing crazy!

No offense Drew, but I myself have noticed that the classic 5 spoke look is few and far between in the STi crowd. Most of the wheels I've come across members having are either a mesh type wheel, or a multi spoke design - with very few having any sort of "lip" on them.

Myself, I am a fan of the 5 spoke wheel. Although I really like the Work VS-XX and the Volk GT-U wheels. Both look phenomenal combined with the right body modifications.

the number of 57Fs out there is enough for me to say there are plenty of 5 spokers.

that plus the 5zigen FN01RC makes it even more.

and i've seen at least 4 or 5 sets of the Volk GT-S floating around.
