I've been asked by a top Rota Vendor to never speak about Rota Quality, fitment or availability.

sorry i can't help you there.

That... right there is a bad sign. If someone didn't want me opening my mouth about something.. then there's something to hide. I'll take your lack-of words for it, Clap..

I'll tell you though... it's not easy choosing the right wheel. I keep seeing these prices and going.. "that's per wheel? wtf?" i guess the phrase "you get what you pay for" works in both cases of rota's and the top name brands..

Were you in some way affiliated with Rota or said vendor? If not then that is ridiculous. That's like me being asked by Verizon to stop talking about Motorola's quality, durability, and availability because I know a thing or 2 about cell phones.

Either way, judging by Drew's response you can assume Rota's quality is questionable at best.

I would personally recommend a nice 2 or 3 piece wheel. With a forged rim, at the very least.

As far as rota's the are a decent wheel for a really cheap price. I wouldn't recommend racing on them though from what i've seen. A lot of people have them and are completely happy with them. For people like me (a college student) 3 grand is not really an option if i want any money to go to things other than my car. If you are looking up in that range id spring for volks, works, SSR, advans or prodrives.

Take it as you will, they respectfully said I didn't know what I was talking about. Since they are a respected vendor on here I respect their request.

I don't like talking about Rotas anyway.

nope, never affiliated with Rota or Unspoken Rota Vendor. I wont go into detail b/c I too think it's retarded that I'm not "allowed" to help people with Rotas, but if that's all they want I'm ok with it.

either way, OP, there are an insane # of wheels out that there.

give me a few examples of styles you like and I'll help you track down a wheel with the right style size and price range you're hoping for if it's possible.

It's a toss-up between a handful of wheels. Lookin for either black or gold. I like the Advan T6's and RS's and Prodrive GC05's and GC06's. The CR Kai's are also really nice.. it's just the color choices. If I could have a slight concave to the wheel without having to sacrifice anything, I'd go for it in a heartbeat.

what's your thought on the Work XT7?

you can see it here

Work Wheels Brembo Clearance Round 1: Emotion Series » t3h_Clap’s Wheel33tist Blog

the Work Emotion CR Kai is a great wheel as well, inexpensive, strong, classic design.

Drew that is not at all what happened and I would appreciate it if you could stop posting this in every thread, I already PM'ed you months ago and expected this to stop. When I posted the comment I meant it as a joke, that is why I used smilies and winks in my posts. I was also not working at the time as I was a full time student, this is why I posted on my own personal account and not a vendor account. I did not tell you to stop posting about quality or availability, I simply made a joke about fitment on that particular wheel.

Here is the thread in question. I had posted a smiley face on my first post, you posted a roll your eyes and then I posted another wink, I thought you knew I was joking and that my comments were not serious. I've known of you for awhile and we've posted in various threads on Nasioc so I didn't see this as a problem.

rota grids, steel grey

and my PM after

"Hey,

When I made that comment I did not mean it in that context. You do a ton for the wheel/tire section and you are a great help. However at the time it seemed like you were going out of your way to put Rota wheels down. I usually lurk some of the sections and on many occasions I will see a thread where the thread starter asks a question and you put the wheels down.

A simple search of your name + Rota brings up over 50 threads and the majority of them include negative comments that aren't needed.

Black Rota Boost On Aspen White

If someone asks me about a Volk wheel I don't say you better watch out they bend easy (my CE28's have bends in them and yet I've never cracked or bent a Rota). Or the same about Works, Gramlights, etc.. which I've seen tons of people crack and replace with Rota's."

I hope we can both put this behind us as I have tried to do many times in the past.

-Dan

It's actually not that bad looking. Does it come in any other colors or just bronze?

Its a shame they dont offer them in gold. I really wouldn't wanna add more money on to an already pretty pricey set just to have them powdercoated to my satisfaction.

Anyone have pics of an 04-05 OBP with Advan RS's? Lookin to see them in either gold or dark gun metallic. I really like these wheels but to be safe, what offset would be best for me? and... who has the best prices on them?

do a search for BenW he had the 18x9 +45mm on his car.

if you didnt want to worry about fitment you could do an 18x8.5 +50mm and a 235/40/18 with Zero issue.
