Default anodizeing wheels

My stock BBS wheels are starting to get pretty rough. The winters in new york have taken there toll. I was looking into different ways to get them refinished. Paint, Powder coat, and Anodizing. I was wondering if anyone has had there wheels anodized or better yet hard anodized? If so how did it work out for you? Was it a nice finish. How well does it wear? Pictures of the wheels would be great. How expensive was it?

Thanks
Ben

If they do, then maybe that's why T3h Clap says they're garbage. I wonder if this weakens the alloy or metal or whatever like powder coating does if not done correctly.

The strength of the material can be increase if anodized properly, unfortunately I'm unsure on the correct methods to do so.

You could anodize wheels but there probably would be a good deal of prep to make them look good. You need a real good surface finish if you want a nice smooth look. Paint/Powder coat covers little stuff much better. Depending on the anodizing it wears ok. It may cost more then paint or powder coat. In some case the anodizing can slight weaken the material but all depends on the alloy and such.

Anodizing hardends the surface of the material so that it is stronger against crack initiation etc. However, I am not sure why they don't do it on too many wheels. I think it is too expensive and to fragile against rocks, brake dust etc.

Cost is probably an issue...
