Default 255 tires on stock bbs

ok so i took a look through the recommended threads, plus some searching on my own, so now its time to lay this out on the line.

as we all know , the RE07 are now in the form of 255's.

my question is, will the 255's work on my stock BBS rims?

i believe the tires will work, and here is how i came to believe they will work,
ofcourse 255 on a stock BBS rim would cause the side walls to "bubble" out alil to the point where turn in may be effected, BUT the RE07's are well known for a superior and stiff side wall.

*255 RT615 on stock BBS rims = side wall roll (due to size of tire on rim )

*255 RE070 on stock BBS rims = same turn in rate as 225 RE07 but with the added ability of grip (due to side wall stiffness)

as you can guess, im looking to get these tires to replace my factory RE070's. thought i would ask around before i made the purchase.

thanks in advance!!!!

Donnie~

yes many people have fit a 255/40/17 onto their 17x8 bbs wheels...but why would you want a 2nd set of re070s? they're a good tire but they cost $OMG and there are other tires that will match them in terms of performance for less and last longer to boot.

I currently run 255/40R17 HTRIIIs on my stock BBS rims. No problems here.

post pics if you decide to go for it. i don't like the look of 40s on the stocker wheels but I've never seen the 070 in their 255 version.

check here as well for more info.

How Wide of Tire can I Run on my 2005+ Subaru Impreza WRX STi on Stock Wheels? » t3h_Clap’s Wheel33tist Blog

they will work, but they will work alot better on a wider wheel.

You can fit them without a problem, but you're not going to be able to take advantage of the additional width. It's all in Clap's blog. 245 is really as wide as you need to go on an 8" rim, but that may be my opinion.

Now, if you spring for the RG2s you've been lusting after and get them on these shores... 17 x 8.5 would fit the 255s perfectly.

<-- 's advocate.
