There is a REALLY funny story as to why so many Gram Lights time attack wheels were floating around. Basically without naming any names, "Shop A" had the sole rights to sell the super cheap 57Fs that were brought over from the special edition Nismo car that never entered production in Japan. "Shop B" wanted to sell them too, so they called the supplier (who was supposed to maintain the exclusivity and only sell to Shop A) and painted them so they would technically be different from the regular 57F being sold by Shop A. This caused Shop A to become quite mad at the supplier, who had full understanding of the deal, and Shop B to put out some crummy non-OEM RAYS product.

as long as they got the real deal volks/grams and they didn't think they were the first to ever do Red lip black wheel i wouldn't consider them a ricer.

We all know who the importer is. Mackin Industries. Let's just say shop A and B are major westcoast outfits who we all know.

One shop had the exclusive rights to sell these. Mackin wasn't to sell any to other shops, but some had already leaked out. The sets that had leaked out were modified with the time attack theme so that they could be sold without breaking the agreement.

you guys could go back 6 months and probably find the vendor who was selling the TA themed gram lights. But I won't tell name names.

no, these were the sets before they had any paint at all. That was sort of the "crappy" part about these, they had nothing. Just the bare bronze finish. When I inquired about getting the RAYS and GramLights white/blue stickers, Company A said it couldn't be done.

Right, more like RAYS "generic cores" before any branding etc. But we enthusiasts knew the value!

Tirerack.com has some listed. But the time attack color is special order and I was told over the phone it would be 12 weeks lead time.

The story is somewhat true, we (AXIS) end up buying the all of the remaining Gram Light wheel made by RAYS. they are the 57F made for a major OEM manufacture that back out of the deal. hence RAYS was stuck with a large quantity of wheels, they are 18x8.5 5x114.3 +45mm, and weights just over 16 lbs, They are FORGED MONOBLOCK, very similar to the 57F not to be confused to the 57C. RAYS simply painted in matte black for us, and we stripped it in Red as well as 7 other colors here in the USA. We also have silver and bronze. We simply rebadge it as AXIS per our agreement. Pricing is just a little higher than the CAST wheel, a lot cheaper than the FORGED wheel.

We do not sell direct, you can try OAKOS who advertise on the website or wheelstudio.com

Axis Wheels
James The wheels we're talking about were sold as Rays wheels not as an Axis wheel. Hell most of them were sold as gramLight 57Fs or Volk Racing 57Fs.

what's the model of your wheel that "is" the 57F clone?

EDIT: also from the looks of it the 57F is no longer in production, so once you're out of these you're out. Care to share how many you had?

It is the 57F wheels, in plain AXIS/rays boxes, plain center cap. RAYS painted in Matte Black so we can strip it, it is a good value wheel. we are marketing it for Sti as well as IS300 and S2000, We have plenty of wheels as we deal in container basis.

Best,

James Chen
