IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (7) | if you're looking for grippy tires get any of the Max Performance Summers. any "real drag" tire will not be very good at anything else. |

As Clap said, any high performance summer tire will do a goo job with grip. Some examples would be Falken RT-615, Bridgestone RE01R, Bridgestone RE070 (stock tires), and Advan Neova's. |

| Silver Member | From what I have seen, really grippy tires tend to hurt launches more than they help them anyway. Too many variables, and I really shouldn't generalize, but wheelspin is better than wheelhop, and ****ty tires make it easier to get wheelspin IMHO, at least with stock turbo. I have outlaunched a lot of evos and STi's on ****ty all season tires, when they were on RE070's or better. I would spin and then hook, while they would get wheelhop and then lift to compensate. Just my opinion, and your mileage may vary. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Upgrading/replacing the various bushings and mounts in the driveline gets rid of wheelhop completely. The launch in my sig was on sticky kumho MXs and the stock axles. |

| Silver Member | Cars i've seen running slicks had enough power to get wheelspin, even with the slicks. I guess what I was trying to say, is too much traction will hurt your launch. You have to get the right amount of grip for the amount of power you are making. Thus drag tires on a normal street car might be overkill. |

| Silver Member | I thought about your question some more. What a drag tire is: very sticky compound with a tall, soft sidewall to facilitate maximum grip when launching. This by design will not work well for canyon runs and road race tracks, as the soft sidewall will really hurt your handling. Now the good news. You have AWD. You don't really need a drag tire to hook up at the strip. If you want to run some race tires, maybe you should look for some good r comp track tires, and then run those on the drag strip as well. I think this will give you what you want: one set of tires for all your high performance driving needs. |
