Default Rays and Riken

I bought my sti used and the previous owner had decided to switch out the stock wheels and tires. I now have 17'' by 7'' rays wheels "united Arrows" and 225/45 riken raptor zr tires. I am just wondering if you guys have heard of that tire is it good/bad? Is a set up like this with the 7" width going to hinder my handling performance.

I want to start modding my suspension (RCE yellows) but was wondering if my wheels/tires would be a better place to start to achieve better handling.

7" wheels are narrower than stock and the tires don't sound like anything to write home about.

it may be a good idea to find some quality wheels/tires before you dive into the suspension.

what kind of budget are you thinking for the wheels + tires.

also what year is your car?

if it's a MY04, the 17x7 isn't a terrible size for other subarus WRX/GC.

since you're in LA it doesn't seem you'd need winter wheels/tires.

Riken is a Michelin sub-brand. Someone on here asked about them a while back, but I don't presonally know anyone who's run them.

And the previous owner didn't do you any favors as far as wheels are concerned, either. Narrower wheels means you can't fit as wide a tare, which does decrease your ultimate grip. Try to find a set of stockers at least. Or just follow T3h_clap's advice. He's one of our gurus.

Id be on a budget of whatever I sell my current wheels and tires for. Im hoping ~1000$. my cars an 05.

I guess I could find some stockers for that price. Maybe a used set of something else that would be an upgrade?

Thanks for the reply!
