IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | I need some advice on a daily driven/wet track summer tire. I have a dedicated dry track wheel/tire setup already so I need a set of tires that I can daily drive in the summer as well as use on the track when it's raining. The question is, do I go for a 'subdued' summer tire like the Falken FK452, the Goodyear Eagle F1's, Michelin PS2's, or do I go more hardcore and get something along the lines of the Dunlop Z1's or the Falken RT615's? I'm just trying to decide if it's worth going with a stickier, higher wearing compound if I'm going to be daily driving it and doing the very rare track day on them when it's raining. Advice would be appreciated. BTW, looking for 235/40/18. Thanks! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (14) | I'm not a big fan of the RT-615's. They have pretty good grip in the dry but not so much in the wet. Mine are down to the cords so I'm replacing them and I've narrowed it down to either RE01R's or Direzza Z1's. I'm leaning towards the Dunlops since they have better wet performance and slightly less road noise according to tire rack, with a small sacrifice in dry grip. Plus they are a little cheaper than the Bridgestones. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I just got my RE01R's and haven't driven them in the wet yet, however, they have some pretty good wet traction ratings from staff and customers at tirerack.com. Again, I haven't driven in the wet with them yet, so I'm merely passing on (mis)information. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | ^Thanks Dan and Scuba. I actually just ordered some RT615's in 235/40/18 . I'm going to use them 99% of the time for the street, and they are a great street tire at a great price. For the track, I decided that I'll stick to the RE01-R's in 245/40/17 even if it's wet. I'll just have to turn the dial down on the aggressiveness meter . When those are done, I'm really keen to try out the Z1's myself, so those will be my next track tire.
