| Junior STI Driver | Im looking at something a little more beffy than a 235/40 however ive heard the 245s are too tall so i have to come to ask if anyone has driven with this size tire and if so how did it seem compared to stock (stop/going, how did the gearing feel?) Any other details would be greatly appreciated as well. And I know for a fact a 245-40 will clear given my setup so that is not a concern. This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | It really depends on the tire you choose, as all 245/40's aren't created equal in size or feel. I'm a big believer in keeping the stock diameter (24.9"), but after riding on some 235/40's that were 25.4", I might consider using them for daily driving. I find that the wider tires always make the car "feel" heavier because of the increased rolling resistance, not just the weight. My last two combo's were exactly the same weight (41.4 lbs), but the 235 felt obviously heavier than the 225. My recommendation is that you stay away from anything that's over ½" taller in overall diameter if you want to preserve your torque to the wheels. |

I'm rolling my fenders in the next week but overall I am very happy with the setup. I have not noticed any loss in power or anything else. I got the wheels strictly for looks and not as a track setup. I still use my stock bbs for the track. |

| Junior STI Driver | Bump...thanks for the replies guys. Anyone else? I think im gonna pull the trigger on the 245s, i think gearing will be better, but not sure if thats just bc its in my head or if its reality (these things do have short gears, 06 and lower that is). |

| The Next Petter Solberg | I run 245/40/18, but not by choice. They were the tires that came on the rims. I don't like it so much. I had to raise up the front in order to avoid most of my rubbing issues when turning. It's not the edge of the fender that is the problem, it is the inner fender liner. Then again, I was running slightly lower than recommended. My ride height is now set at a comfortable 14.5" in front. ![]() EDIT: Since you say you will clear no matter what, and to answer the OP... I noticed a difference at first initially, but have gotten used to it. Car felt heavier from a stop, the gearing change wasn't too bad though, and maybe even welcomed. 235/40/18 245/40/18 <- i know it's too tall but it's a compromise between the two 255/35/18 fenders aren't rolled with jdm pinks on stock struts. | |

If i can get a set of RE01R's for 800 mounted..., you think i should do it in that size of 245/40/18? I am on stock suspension right now, but will be running RCE blacks in the spring.
