| Amateur STI Driver | don't know how but i got my rear right tire nailed. it's a big nail too. i was wondering if the tires are cover by warranties. will i be able to get a new tire or do i have to settle for a fix? prefer a new tire but guess i'll have to fix it myself if that's the case. IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | I'm almost positive that it is not covered for the tires that came on the car. I think you would only have "road hazard" if you bought it from a store that offered that for an extra fee. I had a nail in one of my RE070's, (at around 2k miles) and I got it plugged at a local firestone dealer. I've had bad experiences with plugs in the past, but this one has held up pretty well. Depending on how much wear you have on your tires, you want to be carefull about replacing just one tire. I read that the different tire diameter could be bad for the diffs. |

| Professional STI Driver | Friendly local Firstone dealer patched a nail hole for free. He did try and sell me a lifetime alignment. For $105 it seamed like a good deal being able to get it set every 6,000 miles. 15,000 miles, a few hilclimbs, auto-X's and a 120 mph twice a lap at an un-timed drivers school and no problems. |

I read somewhere before you should never patch Z-rated tires, or else they lose their high speed rating. 'course I bet the same goes for leaving a nail or screw in them  |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (11) | Looks like I just joined the "nail in the tire club". I was washing the car yesterday and noticed I got a nail in my right rear tire. The tires have 2500 miles on them and are in very good condition. What do you think I should do?? |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | If you purchased the extended powertrain warrenty from subaru they will fix or replace a tire up to 150 dollars. Limited warrenty does not cover it I believe. ....You can only plug a tire if it is about an inch from the side wall or on or between the 2 thread lines. A patch plug must have a good flat area to attach it self to ..if it is too close to the side wall when you make turns the tire flexes and could break the patch or even have the tire blow out. I work at a goodyear and thats what I go by....O and no more than 3 plugs or patches. |
