IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | So I ordered a set of TRMotorsports MT1's with some tires from Tirerack.com. I get a call about 1630 from a guy who doesn't speak english, telling me that the tires I ordered(RE01R's) are dangerous in the rain and to back off when it's wet out. ok........courtesy call, just wanted to make sure. Unusual, but I guess I could appreciate that if I wasn't in the know. My mom calls me up, saying that the same guy called home(it was another number I listed for billing purposes). He said that the tires are too big for my car. Uhhh....245/40-17? Not. Courtesy call I guess, just because they're not OEM sized tires and they don't want their customers getting screwed.......... So I just got ANOTHER call. Now they're saying they cannot process my order because they need to reference my name listed to something in a phone book, government email address, my employer, ect. OK, so I'm in the military, but don't have a gov. email address yet because I'm still in the basic officers course. So, I'm a new guy and they just haven't gotten around to it yet. Next, I have no listed phone number because I use a cell phone as my primary, which is on a family plan(not in my name). OK. So, my home of record is technically my moms house still(yah I'm the new guy and I'm moving constantly, so I'd rather not lose important mail while moving constantly). So they tell me that they'll have to take it up with their manager, whose left for the day. WTF? Have you ever heard of this before? I order things all the time off the internet, and this is the first I've ever heard of this. I figured that putting in your security code with the credit card was good enough. I thought that was the point. retards.EDIT: Mods move this if you please. Guess it shoulda gone in OT since it's about tirerack more than my STi This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (7) | I had NewEgg does this to me. But I love newegg and nothing bad towards them. I see where they were coming from. I gave them an address to ship to that did not match my Credit Card plus at the time I had my gov. mailing address and my billing then my friends off base for the shipping. They just called to make sure that it was me ordering the stuff and make sure it was ok to ship the parts and bill the card for them. |

| Silver Member | Whenever the shipping address and billing address don't match up, it's gonna raise a red flag. Not all companies are gonna handle it the same way. Sounds like they chose to take the route of extreme caution. Any reason you can't just walk into a discount tire or other tire shop and order what you want? |

As far as phone numbers go, I always enter my cell phone # as the phone number for every order that I place for everything. The phone bill isn't in my name, but that's never caused an issue. I've ordered from TireRack and never had any actual "issues" though. You may think those phone calls were annoying, but what if you actually made a mistake and chose the wrong size tire? They would have saved your ass, plain and simple. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I just had Tire Rack call me yesterday because my address did not match what my bank card had on file. Reason was I had them shipped to my work. So basically the same thing. Lame but they probably have been burned so many times that they cant risk it anymore. Other companys dont care and just ship it to my work without any hassle. So it just depends. Usually the bigger the company the more cautious they are about it... |

But the shipping address and billing address are the same. And the billing address is the one used by my credit card company too... I figured the courtesy calls were exactly that, just to let me know what I'm getting myself into if I didn't in the first place(As stated in my OP). I just thought it a bit odd at the time when I answered my phone. | |

| Spec C Club | I will not order from them because they, clearly, have a POT(point of transaction) problem. They denied my card, online and over the phone. I call my bank thinking the worst and the bank says there are no problems with my card. My business goes elsewhere. |

| Professional STI Racer | I've ordered tires from them twice and never had any trouble. I didn't tell the website what car i drive though (I ordered the same tires as you did) so I never got a single call and the tires always ship the day after I order. Thats weird that it'd be so different person to person.... This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
