IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (7) | Well I just moved up to Maine from Mississippi. When I was in MS I could run summer tires all year wrong with no worries. Well I have the Falkens on there still. I am working in NH right now so I drove my car over. Well most people know whats going on right now up here. I had to drive in the snow to get into Maine and also today when the weather came in. Let me just say holy crap. I was really scared today. I am thinking about getting some snow tires does anyone have any advice on some good snow tires that don't cost to much? Thanks. This ad is not endorsed by this member. | STI Driver | Yeah, I went from Toyo Ra1's that I was running for mostly track use and ended up putting on the PA2's. I thought I would be dissappointed with the dry performance, but honestly it's not that noticeable unless you're driving 8/10th's. |

| Junior STI Driver | I used the Dunlop Wintersport 3D's and highly recommend them. They get surprising dry traction and silly good snow traction. They are consistent and predictable, and not terribly expensive compared to whats out there. A friend of mine whose tried several snow tires from many different manufacturers believes these are the best he's tried and I'd have to agree. Any dedicated snow tire will do, just don't get studded tires since they chew up the road. Stick with studless snow tires, no need for "ice" tires either unless you see a lit of sheet ice. Get a 2nd wheelset and swap them out whenever you like. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (7) | Thanks for the advice everyone. Some of the ones mentioned I was already looking at on tirerack. I do want another setup. want to put winter tires on my stock bbs and then buy my 18' after market ones for my summer set up. |

I have the Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds on my STI. They are excellent. A friend of mine and I were out driving, he in his RS wagon w/ Hankook snows, and I in my STI w/ the Wintersports. He was amazed at how much traction I was getting in the corners. I could drive the car wherever I wanted through the corner while he had to set up and commit for practicaly every corner. In the dry they are very sure-footed and have stiff enough sidewalls that they corner amazingly well for snow tires. I would put them on-par with all-seasons as far as dry cornering goes. I highly reccomend the Wintersport 3D snows. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. | |
