Default If Not Tracking Car...Weight of Wheels Really a Problem?

The wheel decision is killing me and has been killing me for the last three months. I want to buy a used set of wheels and tires and want to spend around $1k. I am worried about the rotas due to all the problems people have had that I have hear. I cannot justify spending so much money on a lightweigh wheel. Should i be really concerned with say a set of Work CR Kai's that weigh around 23lbs or any wheels of the likes for that matter. I am looking for an 18" rim and am not tracking the car...but of course I do not want it to slow down my car any that I would notice....I am not worried about a few tenths. Should i still bust my ass to continue waiting for the right deal on a 18-19lb rim?

I wouldn't worry at all. The difference between a 23lb wheel and a 19lb wheel on the street is going to be negligible. Just buy what you like.

more than the weight difference its going to be the size difference... what i mean is if you go 1 inch bigger then when your odometer says ur going 60mph ur actually moving at like 57mph, no biggy, but i thought u might want to know.
Also rota's are great if street conditions arnt the best, and you wont kick yourself as much if something happend to them....
On my wrx there is a 3mph difference between my navi and my odo.

RIM size does not affect your speedometer. TIRE size does. You can still buy 18's and still have an accurate speedometer.

Just curious, but what "bad" things have you read or heard about rotas? There are many, many people running them (including me) in daily street driven pothole ridden conditions, with no problems.

If you're budget is 1000 bucks, your selection is going to be pretty limited. If you're dead set against rota, for whatever reason, you MAY find a few rims for around 1000 bucks
- Rays 57F
- 5zigen FN01R-C
- Enkei RPF1
- Gram Lights

Those are just a few...

it wont be too noticeable considering our wheels weigh around 20lbs already from the factory.

if you were to go to a 25 or heavier wheel you may start noticing the difference.

but a few lbs here or there wont be too noticeable on the street.

what will be the most noticeable is if you change the tire overall diameter, try to stay as close to factory as possible.

I was going to sell my gramLights for ~1300 with the tires, but recently chose otherwise.

point being, you can find quality wheels that have a few miles on them for cheaper then buying new.
