I was thinking of selling my stock gold rims and getting 18" prodrive PFF-7's instead. Would it be a good idea to get all season tires on these 18's? The car will be driven in the occasional snow that we get here in jersey. Should i scrap this idea and instead spend the money of a dedicated set of snow tires. I really like the look of the prodive PFF-7 's. Does anyone know of a good high performance all season? Thanks for the help.

how about buying a beater with snow tires for the few nasty days you get in Jersey?? That way you can claim the STi as the second vehicle and likely drop your insurance rates.

A decent beater can likely be had for equal to or less than a set of 18" high performance all season tires.

I was debating this as well when I bought my STi. I live in Maryland where we occasionally get a decent Nor'easter and a couple snow storms... I ended up just getting 18s with all weather and sold the BBS. Even if I just got beater rims and snow tires they would really only be worth it for like 10 days out of the year if that, atleast where I am.

guys think about the possibilites of the beater car......

depending on what you get you could rallyX it, drive it on the crappy winter OR summer days, send the STi out to a tuner for a few days or have a multiday modding project and still have transportation, you SHOULD actually get an insurance discount, since you can designate the STi as a "recreational" car and save enough on your insurance to cover the beater.

I just sold my 1989 Audi 80 Quattro and did all of the above. THe car literally paid for itself when I sold it for the exact amount I paid for it.

A friend of mine has his beater and his G35 coupe. The G35's insurance is alot cheaper now. I believe the insurance for both cars is cheaper then what he was quoted if he had the G only. His beater is a late 90's saturn wagon, exellent little car for $1300!

Get the PFF7s. . . I never regret it.

For tires. . .if you want all-seasons, the Bridgestone Potenza RE950s are pretty good. Otherwise, get the RE750 summer-like tires. They're still great in rain, but the 950s are better in the snow (if you MUST use them).

Pre-drop picture with my British Pewters. . .
