Used track tires?

I know that it was here or NASIOC that I saw a link mentioned to a shop that sold used take off track tires. The prices seemed good and people gave good reviews, this will be my first set of r-comps and I would like to do it on the cheap at least at first. I have exhausted my brain searching threads, heres to hoping someone knows what i'm talking about. BTW I think the place was in chicago but I could be making that up, I do remember the website being pretty badly done if that helps.

You can also look on the SCCA Forums. I know guys that have bought a lot of slightly used R-comps off there. Haven't heard of a shop, though.

we've got a local guy who sells them for $25 a tire.

don't think he ships though.

Damn, that's cheap. I wish he would ship at that price. I love used race tires...

generally people get rid of them when they are out of their "peak", but they still have plenty of inexpensive useable life in them.

most avg autox/road racers don't utilize the maximum grip anyway, so saving a few bills buy used tires is a nice way to save some coin.

I kinda wish i had a miata b/c that's the tire we get alot of down here. lots of 205/50/15 RA1s.

it's a craps shoot of him having anything between a 205 and a 305 though.

there seem to be alot more Miata and Corvette, mustang guys selling him used tires then the subies guys.

Ive had good luck with Turner Motorsport used tires. Ive been getting their grand am cup hoosier takeoffs from the front of their M3s. Its a 245-45/17 and fits really well on the stock STi wheels. They just had the 1st race of the season over the weekend so they may have them in stock again

The also have 225-45/17 (ST class tires) and 275-40/17 (M3 rear)
