I've got about the size of a peice of paper of fender liner missing, including wearing away and actually burning the paint.

245 Hoosiers w/ soft lowering springs will do that.

Camber only helps increase the grip of the tire, which increases the amount of roll, which decreases the fender liner.

I'm currently running -2.7 to -3 but it not my DD and I strictly use it for track only and I never ran into issue like his.

What I'm trying to get it you can get up to -1 camber through the bolt and that sometimes can give you a little extra clearance angle from the tire to the strut.

I'm not sure why his fender liner is scraping or have a hole like this. Even running -3 with 245/40/17 tire shouldn't get this problem. Could it be a offset??? So therefore, I was giving a him a little extra idea if he wants to try to use it get resolve his issue. Plus, running -2.5 you are going to get extra tire wear from the inside.

maybe i misread your responses, it sounded like you were trying to adjust the bolt positive to move it away from the fender liner, while still having a total -2.5 camber.

Correct. I might have not put my point across as clear as I thought(need to learn how to write...).

It's all good. I hope he solved his issue.

I decided to go with -2.5 because I track my car about once every other month. I wanted a "set it and forget it" alignment. Hopefully I will even out the wear at my next track event. I will talk to my alignment guy about getting more clearance from the strut but I would have assumed he would know to do that since he is probably the best alignment guy in SoCal.
Do 04's have less fender room than 05+? I know they have rolled fenders but I was wondering about the room deep into the fender.

The rear fender of the 05-07 STI have like .5" each side wider then the 04's. The front is the same.

The 05-07 have the extra room from the factory "pre-rolling" the rear fenders, and adding the exterior trim peice. This was to make room for the 17x8s. Rolled 04 fenders are likely to have the same room a 05 does.

This is the way I remember it being. So, if you remove the black strips and roll up the flanges on an '04, you have basically the same outboard clearance as with the '05. Moving on from there, though, the '04 is easier to flare, because it lacks the exterior trim.

Note that "flaring" might not entail massive cutting and Bondo work. It might be just really aggressive rolling. Depends on your specific situation. If you're just looking for a little more clearance, or if you want to do a relatively subtle flare, the '04 is easier to deal with.

Rolling the fender won't help my clearance issues where the fender liner is rubbing will it? I thought rolling the fender only helps with clearance issues on the outside of the tire?

I was responding to Low Orbit's post, sorry.

Most people test-fit a wheel/tire combination to avoid inboard rubbing, and then do whatever needs to be done to allow for fit on the outboard side. So in that sense, yes, fender rolling allows you to move the wheel outboard, which in turn allows you to mitigate inboard rubbing.

If you want to keep your current wheels, but move them outboard, one approach would be to use camber plates to move the strut out, and then upright adjustability to set the camber back to where you want it.

In setting up my car, I sort of took the opposite approach. The general idea was to have the strut tops all the way inboard, and then use a backspacing that would allow adequate inboard clearance throughout a reasonable range of camber settings.

I apologize... didn't really read the whole thread, so this may not be relevant. IIRC, all the STi's I've ever seen were limited at the trailing arm in back, not the well, so I'm not sure what's going on there.

Will running 245/40/17 RE01R's be copletely out of the question now? I need to see if my alignment guy could create some more space.

If it's rubbing the TOP of the fender, I'm not sure camber/spacers will help.
A stiffer spring will keep the suspension from bottoming out.

could also be the lower camber plates lowered your car too much.
