pretty soon i'll be getting some new tires for my sti.
i have narrowed it down to the following choices based on some reviews i have read.
in no particular order:
bridgestone s-03
michelin ps2
bfgoodrich kdw-2
toyo t1s

my main concerns are:
1. dry traction & performance as close to or better than stock as possible
2. wet traction better than stock. something that inspires a lil confidence in the wet.
3. strong sidewall, especially if i go 18"
4. treadwear... yea i know... but not something that wears out @ 10k
5. price... rally more of a performance value criteria and should only be a deciding factor between closely matched tires.

thanks for reading, and please offer up those opinions

I did an AutoX on Falkens in the rain. I was pleasantly surprised at the traction they offered.

SCC compared the PS2s to S-02s in the wet and dry. They found them comparable in the dry, but the PS2s dominated in the wet. Don't know how either would compare to the 070s.

I say Pirelli PZero Nero as well. I have these on my FNO1R-Cs and they are great

ultra high performanc all weather.

Not sure how the price compares to the ones you listed though.

The S03's are an incredible tire. Awesome dry grip, and pretty good in the rain too. If they fit in your price range ($170 per corner) they are an awesome tire.

If you need performance on a budget, the Falken Azenis ST115's are good tires. I even ran the first two track days in my WRX with them on and they did well. Of course the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups did even better .

Default STI wheel paint chips have any?

Since you don't appear to have to worry about much snow, I would choose the S-03s. If you want to be a bit more budget-minded, go with the Bridgestone RE-750s. I've had them on for about 5 months (on my 18" Prodrives) and I absolutely love them. I have Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted on some 17" Rotas for snowboarding and the winter months, so I wasn't concerned with snow or ice traction in my selection.

Apparently, the RE750s are made of the same compound as the S-03s . . . just not "quite" as aggressive in the dry. And the treadwear rating for some reason is a lot higher than you'd expect.

So far, I'd recommend them to just about anyone.
