Default 245/40ZR17 RE-01R on 7.5 in Rim

I asked this question on someone's thread a long time ago but didn't get much of an answer.
I was planning on going with the 245/40ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R on my stock 04 BBS rims (7.5 inch). I am on JDM pinks as well as the RCE lowering camber plates. The specs say that you should have an 8 inch rim but I've read of some people running this size on 7.5 in rims.
Has anyone with 7.5 in rims used this size tire on a ride height similar to mine? Any regrets?

Dont know if this answers your question but I ran 245/45/17's on my 04 BBS's. Stock ride height but it really wasnt even close to having clearance issues with height...the problem is clearance of the rear struts...which I did not have a problem with for the 2 years that I ran on them.

i had these on an 8" with no issues, i would doubt you would have issues on a 7.5"

edit: im on rce springs as well

Thanks, but I heard the 05's have more clearance than the 04's. I think it has something to do with that small "fender" type thing in the rears that the 04's don't have.

05+ have factory rolled fenders i believe

i'm tempted to run a 245 tire with the exact same setup as you...with no answers!

I ran an even bigger 245/45/17 Azenis RT615 on my 04 BBS with RCE Yellows last summer. I had slight rubbing up front only very occasionally (slow u-turns), but they were fine and I didn't feel the need to roll.

How did you like that set up? Was the increase in grip substantial?

I really like RT615s. I felt an increase in grip from the 245, but I'm running 225s again now and those haven't felt considerably different on the track. Because my car isn't a complete track whore yet I didn't feel like I was totally using the 245s, but it looks like your car is setup to take advantage of that extra width...

245s definitely fit though

I will most likely go with the 245/40 as opposed to the 245/45 to save on weight and hopefully have better steering response since there should be less sidewall flex. Is my logic flawed?

Not flawed as far as I know.....but I wouldn't really consider response/turn-in with your setup. You're already destroying it with going so wide a tire on such a narrow wheel. More grip, but your response is going to suck.

Maybe you'll notice it, maybe you won't. Depends on how hard you drive the car.

I drive the car pretty hard. I track it about once a month. When I went from the stockers to Advan A046's (235/45) I didn't notice a decrease in steering response.

here is my car with Kumho 245/40/17:

I do get slight rubbing on the inside of the fender well when the car is that low, but for track i raise the height about a inch and the problem goes away. i am on coilovers BTW. the tires stick out a little further than the rim, but not by much. point is they do fit.

Thanks for the pics! Are your fenders rolled?

no problem.

and no rolled fenders. suprisingly it is deep inside the fender well where i get the rubbing issues.

Did you notice a large decrease in steering response?
