Default Quiet Performance Tires?

Any suggestions.

I do a lot of highway driving, about 25 miles each way to work every day. I also do about 5 autocrosses a year. I'm looking for a really quiet summer tire that will still do well at autocross and have at least a 200 tread-wear rating. My current summer tires are Dunlop Sport Max. They were pretty darn good for autocross, but they're actually much louder then my winter snow tires.

Tire noise is never good. It takes away from all the good noises the STI makes.

i put an assload of highway miles on my car... about the same 25 miles one way to work and back... and then other trips to meets and such... i drove on the re01-r's for about 6 months and even ran them on the track(road course not drag) and did some hard street driving, they still have a ton of tread on them

The RE01R's have a rate of 140.
How many miles did you get out of them?

Treadwear doesn't really mean anything....except for comparing tires from the same manufacturer (and they are barely any good for that)

for close comparisons you're correct.

but comparing a 400 treadwear to a 140 treadwear the 400 will last longer. (assuming it's being used in the way it was designed to be used. this goes for both ratings).

From my understanding, the RE01r is the way to go. Great wet and dry performance with good driveability.

You will amaze that Re01R actually last longer than you expected, don't be fool by the 140 thread wear.

However, if you do really concern about the thread wear come first, get some less sticky tires
