IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | So I live just outside of Bostin MA. We get a fair bit of snow during the winter, usually at least a couple really good storms. Not to mention, I do go skiing up north quite a bit. As of now I got 3 sets of wheels Stock BBS Stock RE070's (daily driving summer) Rota G-Force 17x8 RE01-R's 245/40 (autox setup) 18x8 SSR GT7-H 225/40/18 Kumho ECSTA ASX's (current winter setup) As of now, the SSR/ASX's have been my winter setup. (i know, i know). I bought them when i first got the car a year ago, and used them all last winter. They definitely got me by, but im thinking about using the 18's stricly for my summer wheel now. The Rota's are my autox/track wheels. I'm basically thinking about getting a set of 225/45/17 Blizzak LM-25's, and putting them onto the stock wheels. This will provide me with better traction in snow/ice, not to mention in a 17" size as well. Come springtime, perhaps I will get some 245 or 255 azenis for my 18's, but for now, one thing at a time. ![]() What does everyone think about 225/45/17 LM-25's on stockers for a winter setup? Yay or nay? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | i have been more than thrilled with my LM-25s i have them on a set of ASA rims last winter we had a really bad ice storm here in PA and i wanted to take my truck and my wife didn't,.... so we took the car against my fear of putting it in a ditch and we got home just fine and it gripped way better than my f-150 4x4 ever would have. below prolly 6" of snow i'll take the sti over my truck anyday |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (6) | There are literally hundreds of threads regarding winter tires. Search a bit. Find a few. Read them. People like Blizzaks in general. I dunno why you felt the need to create yet another thread. ![]() I'd personally use the Rotas for winter. But that's purely an opinion. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Anyone ever try Hankook iPike W409s? They seem to be cheaper, and I've read some good reviews. Any ideas on where to pick up a set in 225/45/17? I figure I'm gonna beat on these tires anyways, so maybe cheaper is better in this case. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | the hankooks? how would one compare the Hankook iPikes vs. the LM-25's? I realize the ipikes can be studded, but most likely for daily winter driving i wont have them studded. also, if i had a set of studs, are they something i could install/remove myself onto the tires? |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (12) | I have the Blizzaks as my winter setup in 225/45/17 on the stock wheels...it's a great winter tire. I find it actually takes a bit of effort to loose control in the snow with them. |

| STI Driver | this is my first winter with an awd car and i picked up a set of LM25s. They are excellent in the dry, you won't notice a difference in grip during every day and even semi-spirited driving. I haven't had the chance to drive them in deep snow yet, but in rain and light snow its like driving on clear pavement. I would definitely reccomend them. |
