IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I'm looking for some tires. I would like to get the Bridgestones but money is short and I took a look at the Dunlops and they sounded pretty good. I don't want to get the 245's because I heard you lose a little turn in with the wider tire. I don't auto-x, I just use my car as a DD. I don't live too far from the mountains just haven't had the chance to go up for a canyon run. Do you think I should get the 245's I just wanted to keep it ---/45/17. If anybody has any other ideas i'm open to them...if you know a good deal going on right now too that would be very helpful. Thanks! Falken RT615 is also an option but they only have those 245/45/17...I'm open to suggestions I want good tires at a good price I don't know If I could afford the RE01R's. Please help I don't want a crappy tire. The RE01R's are like $165 in the 245's but I don't want the tires to bulge to much and I don't want to get the 40's because I don't know when I'm going to be able to get springs for my car. comparison - Using Cookies Dunlo Direzza sport Z1 - Info Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 More Info Dunlop Tires - Find The Right Tire - Tire Specifications= This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Tirerack.com is having a special on the Bridgestone RE01R for $168 for the 245/45/17...still a little more than I want to spend. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (23) | at that price i would get the re01r. spend the extra 146 for a much higher performing tire. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | it's in the same category as the RE01R. The tread rating is even the same(180AA). If nobody has any experience with the tire I might just get it to give a review on the tire. It's a great price. Specs seem to be just about the same as the RE01R. I don't Auto-X or take my car to the track. I could save $236 for something else like towards some springs. Last edited by D1SMember; 11-25-2007 at 10:18 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (23) | it's in the same performance category but is no where near the re01r as far as actual performance. I can guarantee that. performance categories like tread wear and traction ratings are not standardized. If you're being budget concious and the cars a dd, you might want to look for something with a higher tread wear rating and better wet traction. I have the bfgoodrich gforce ta kdw2 on my dd rims. They have very good wet traction, quite a bit quieter than re070s, and have a treadwear rating of 300. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I've got over 21,000 miles on my RE070's I don't mind a couple years of tire life. I would like to know I can go to an auto-x if I wanted to in these tires. I don't drive like a maniac in the rain anyway I always keep it at 55-65 mph depending on how hard it is raining. Rain isn't so much of an issue in southern california. I've seen pictures of those KDW's chunking up because of the pattern. I'll check out the price on them but I still need info on what sould be a good width and height for the tire. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (23) | they can chunk. i don't track/ autox using mine. just trying to play devils advocate here but the re01r is the autox tire of choice for STU. at that price, i wish i needed tires right now. I'm not going to lie though, the dunlops are cheaper and you probably wouldn't be able to utilize the re01r to their full extent. I say try the dunlops and let us know. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (7) | Honestly if you're getting 21k miles out of a set of RE070s you should pick up a second set of wheels for "fun days" and then slap on some RE750s for your street wheels and get like 50k out of those. I got 8k miles out of my RE070s ![]() EDIT: find some Stock BBS + RE070s take offs in your area and be golden |

![]() ![]() Now back on topic. Unless you push the tires the limit (which I hope you dont do on the streets) the re01r's are truly not needed. Save you money and buy a cheaper tire. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. | |
