IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | My tread on RE070 is almost done. I'm thinking of getting another set but I saw online that the 01R is a lot cheaper by $26 ( $146 ea ) as opposed to $172. They're running a special. Should I stick with RE070 or try out 01R compound? How the tires will be used (daily driving, autocross/track/dragstrip) DD and it's used more on hwy. The streets i use are pretty bad if that helps any. I've gauged that i've about 40% tread remaining. - What kind of weather the tires will be used in (dry, rain, snow) live in soca so it's pretty much dry here. I do go up north to visit but I don't think I'll be moving back any soon. - What your preferences is in the trade-off between value (low purchase price and/or long treadlife) vs performance I'll take performance over long treadlife. From what i've read the RE070 is noisier than 01R for streetuse. That's to be expected of a UHP tire. In addition, it says that it requires a lot more tire pressure to maximize performance. Surveywise the 01R seems to be better than RE070 but everyone's a critic. Pretty much the 01R outscored the RE070 in every category. /scratchesIf you don't like either set of tires mentioned please kindly recommend another. Thanks This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I have 225/45/17 RE01R's on my stock wheels and 255/40/17 RE01R's on my 8.5 wide wheels. Obviously I am a happy camper with the RE01R's, so that is my vote. The RE01R's are skinnier than the RE070's so you might want to get 235-245 wide if you get RE01R's. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2006 Trader Rating: (7) | i think people mistake the re01-r's for being an RComp alot. its a street tire. its one of the best tires of ever run. very grippy in the wet, really good on the track... and good on the street. I run a 245/40 on the stock 17x8" wheel. (in the warmer months) |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Wow, I had no idea the stock RE070s were so expensive. I still have mine sitting in my room, in storage for summer days with less than 7000 miles on them. I 've heard great things about the RE01-Rs. I don't think you can wrong with either one. Just don't be using them in snow. Man, I miss Cali...especially socal where you can run on these kinds of tires all year round and never need snow tires |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I have a set of both stock wheels w/ RE070's and a set of 17x8 Rota G-Forces w/ 245/40/17 RE01-R's. Between the two, the RE01-R's are definitely much quieter/smoother, and are stickier and have more grip. Not to mention, clearly they are a bit cheaper as well. If your using stock wheels, I'd definitely step it up over stock tire size and get some 245/40's. |

| Silver Member | I have 01R's on my car right now. I think they are a better tire, and cheaper. It's a win/win lol. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | The new Nissan GT-R uses the RE070's, which tells you that it is a sicker tire than the R01's. However, the sizes that are offered for the STi suck, hence why I vote for the R01's, because those in 235 or 245 will surely give you more grip than the 225 RE070's. The skyline sizes are ridiculous, hard to put on STi's in my opinion without messing up the unsprung weight significantly, hence that doesn't really become an option either. Anyhow, Bridgestone needs to make the RE070's in 245's or bigger. |

| Iron Fisted | I'm going to get 245/40/17 RE01R's on my stock wheels in the next couple weeks. IMO they are a better all around tire. BTW, where are they having a sale on these, because it will cost me close to 800+ dollars to purchase and mount them with the place that I am looking at. |

$172 ea RE070 $146 ea RE01R I'm gonna try and get them locally so i can save on shipping. Anybody in soca, have a place they go to? I'd really appreciate it. If i were to order it from them it would cost me $630 ( $46 shipping ) for 01R ( excluding mounting and balancing > $15 ea ). Nice thing about tirerack is they have places that's recommended by users of the site. Where did you get your quote from? Thanks again guys Last edited by SiR-ed8; 11-24-2007 at 11:38 PM. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I've run both and I think the RE-01R is definitely better. RE-01R has better dry traction as well as having outstanding wet traction, which isn't so great in the RE-070. I'd say they're a little quieter too. Can't see any reason to back to RE-070s for any reason compared to the RE-01R. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I haven't run the RE070's, but I had Azenis on my car before, and recently shod it with RE-01R's. The RE-01R's are far superior to Azenis. Outstanding grip all the time. That's what I'll go with again, as long as the tire life meets my needs. Can't speak on that yet, but I'll know soon enough. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | so if the RE070 is not as "good" of a tire then why is it more expensive??! I love the RE070 and figured the tread pattern was better for hard driving and tracks schools, but is the RE01R just as capable? This ad is not endorsed by this member.
