Default to add insult to injury...

So lately i've been noticing that my tires are getting rather bald and my battery was starting to give out but i've been trying to hold off till after the holidays. Yesterday my tire went flat cause i ran over a nail, so i put on my spare and get back home. Today i go to discount tire to get a patch and the guy tells me my tires dont have enough tread left and he couldnt put a plug in it, so then i go to leave and my battery dies

well my question now is, does anyone have any good suggestions for tires on stock rims, stock suspesion, summer or ones with good water tread for those Florida Summers

Wow, the exact thing happened to me (except the battery woes). I'm pretty sure the idiot at NTB had never seen summer tires though, because I know I had atleast 7k miles left before I hit the wear bars. whatever.

I threw on some 245/40/17 Brigestone Potenza RE-01Rs on there and I love them. They're a bit better in water than the stockers, but I haven't really had much a chance to test that out.

Good luck man!

It rains A LOT in Florida right? I would look for some all season tires. I have the potenza 960 ASs but have not mounted them yet. Most people on here seem to like them though.

I am runnin Toyo Proxy T1-R's, the tread looks and works very well in the water for me. I like them how ever they are noisy. Mos def a summer tire. They are cheaper then the Potenza's, at least for me.(the diesel shop I work for the employees get discounts at the tire shop) however they were in others when I was looking too.

We've got those on my wife's 350Z, and they're fairly good. I couldn't compare them to the RE-01Rs, since her car is pretty tail happy in the dry and much more so in the wet, but i've never had it hydroplane or skid uncontrollably, so I'd give them a pretty good rating.

if you're looking for a good amount of performance you'll want to look into the following tires.

RE01R (Bridgestone)
RS2 Z212 (Hankook)
RT615 (Falken)
MX (Kumho)

you do not need allseason tires in Florida.

the KDWs don't have the dry performance of the tires I listed.

Bridgestone RE01R FTW I havent had these hydroplane on me yet, they have similar grip to the stockers, with better wet traction, and a slightly better ride quality. They are a little noisy, but so is the rest of the car. It kind of drowns out the rattles a bit better

I have heard bad things about the KDW 2's. Arent those the tires that come stock on srt-4's? I dont know I guess to each his own.

I went from RE070->RE960AS.

here are my early impressions:
Noise:
way way lower.

Ride confort:
slightly softwer, but our car has such stiff suspension it will cause neck injury anyways if you run it on gravel.

Dry performance:
Acceptable in cold weather. Not sure in the heat of summer. The tire feels like it grips ok.

Wet performance:
I'll be honest I donot tempt fate when it's wet. I rather have morons tailgate me than risk ending up kissing a tree. But they feel more grippy and I'm no longer scared of water patches.

Gravel performance:
I just tested these on a smooth gravel road and they slide a lot...then again that's gravel for you.

Would I buy again?
hmm, well it's an all season tire so you can't expect supreme performance in any area. Just good overall, so yes I would.
