They are brutal reminders that the car was specifically designed to perform. There are no fake scoops or "power bulges" on the vehicle. Adding non-functional trinkets to improve the cars looks are counter to the original mission of the car's engineering.

2. The stock BBS STi rims are some of the highest quality OEM rims available, period. Forged aluminum design, lighter than almost all aftermarket rims, and decent appearance. Sure the '04 model doesn't have the 114.3 hub design, but it is still a great rim. One of the key reasons that STi and BBS went all out to design their rim is to ensure that they maximized strength, while minimizing unsprung weight. All in the name of reliable high speed performance. Chrome rims fly in the face of that engineering.

3. The Subaru owner culture is not far from the that of the purists that engineered and designed the car. People that love acceleration, whether in a straight line, changing direction, or both. Putting bling bling oversized chrome rims on a STi is a powerful statement to (against?) the STi community.

My personal opinion? Chrome rims FTL. I followed the WRX/STi legend closely when it was only available overseas. I purchased a 2002 WRX when it became available, and later purchased the first 2005 STi delivered in the midwest. I can't think of a worse thing to do to a STi than put chrome rims on it. It makes me

All that said, I strongly believe in free will. If you choose to get chrome ballers for your STi - more power to you. But don't come crying for acceptance after the fact...

Nickel Plating? If that's what it is, it's one of the first steps to chroming, without the actual chrome, of course.

Also, if this dude wants chrome, while it would take away from our purist-community, the good news is that it'll make the rest of our cars look that much better.

IT'S NOT CHROME!

"where it's at" is POLISHED.

there is a very large difference.

chrome is a metal plating process which adds weight to the wheel... polished coating is not heavy generally.

The rims are not chrome, they are a high polish.
