Default New tire from Toyo: the R1R (for those who thought the T1-R's sucked!)

I thought the Toyo T1-R's were awful compared to their predecessor (the T1-S), but Toyo seems to be looking for redemption. Could these give the Bridgestone RE-01R's, Hankook Z212 RS-2, and Falken Azenis RT-615 a run for their money?

Featuring a 140 AA A UTQG rating, the Proxes R1R is ideal for aggressive street driving, the street touring category of SCCA® autocross and the street classes for time attack. It is also an excellent choice for drifting, high performance driving schools and track days.

Glad to see another tire in the running with RE01R's and Advan Neovas......well, we will see once some comparos are done if they are really even close or not. Looks like they could be though.

I like that they are going to offer a 235/45/17, a 245/40/17 and a 245/45/17. Nice to see a full range in sizing.

hmmm, very interesting tread pattern. I hope we get another competative tire choice out there.

Hmmm... what is the price like on these? I might want to try them out if the price is comparable to RT615 and RS2. 255/35/18 looks yummy

It's a toyo, so price won't be competitive to those two. I'm guessing $225+

Toyos aren't that expensive. T1R in 235/40/18 only costs $145 each. For comparison, RT615 is $130 and RS2 is $153 in same sizes. I got the prices from edgeracing.com

^^^ I guess I was comparing r-compounds. Comparing 235/45/17 toyos- T1R's are $129, but going to a RA-1 jumps to $198. I know the new 888's are a bit more than the RA-1's.

The T1-S's you could (predecessor to the crappy T1-R's). They weren't quite Azenis level but were still extremely grippy and worked better at high temps. The Speed World Series actually raced on them for a while before moving to RA-1's.
