Default 16 inch wheels

Hello,

I've tried searching different phrases but am not having much luck. I assume I am not the only one with this question though, so I don't know why I am not finding any threads....

Here it is:

I would much rather have 16" wheels and snow tires on my car for the winter. I also have a set of 16" tires from my old WRX. What 16" wheels will fit the sti? And what offset will I need? I always thought Team Dynamics made one that fit but I cannot find much info on their wheels. I mean, the rally guys use sixteens right? Are they not using brembos?

Any educated/experienced insight is much appreciated.

to get a 16" wheel to fit an STi you'll need to swap the brakes out.

if you swaped to Subaru 4 pots off a Spec C you could run a 15x7 if you buy the right wheel

having a spare set of tires shouldn't justify buy a new set of 16" wheels.

if they are for winter find inexpensive 17s that clear brembos, sell the 16" tires to a WRX owner and get some winters that you'll be able to use for the next few seasons.

I read it as having a spare set of wheels from the wrx.

But most people are used to running 1 size smaller for winter tires. People not used to the brembos forget that theres a lot of fitment issues, and having to buy 17" snows.

Thanks anyways guys. I'm not trying to "cheap out" as a set of team dynamics would cost much more than a set of snow tires I just happen to prefer a little more sidewall in the snow....Looks like 17's I guess.

Thankyou thankyou thankyou for giving people on this forum a lesson on what works in heavy-duty winter conditions. Too many people here think wider always equals better and that 18x10's are the answer to every question.

Like t3h clap said, there are no 16's that clear the Brembos. You might consider looking for a narrower rim, 7.5" for example, and 205-50R17's. You won't get much in the way of more sidewall but you should get better bite in snow and ice.

Rally guys swap brakes along with wheels and tires for gravel stages and tarmac stages. They go with smaller brakes so they can run smaller rims and get more sidewall for gravel stages. Example from Rallispec on this page:

RalliSpec - Brake System
