Can i fit the above tire size blizzaks on my 1" lowered 06 STi with no drivability issues/rubbing ?

No. The circumference is different. Not because of rubbing issues, you're going to throw your speed/mileage/performance way off, not to mention put increased load on your drivetrain. You're decreasing your centrifugal leverage (i.e torque) by making the same amount of power move a greater distance. in other words you'd be increasing your final drive.

Get the proper size. And fwiw, skinnier tires do better in the snow. A 225/45/17 should suit you just fine.

Check out the Miata.net tire size calculator to get a visual comparison. It also shows you the speedometer error by changing sizes, assuming it's calibrated for your current tire.

If you're still running the stock RE070's (225/45/17), going to a winter tire in that same size is actually going to be a slightly narrower contact patch due to the freakish nature of the RE070's. You can also run a 205/50/17 that is very close to the stock wheel circumference.

145/70/17 ftw. Too bad that wouldn't fit on a stock 8" wheel.
