Default Fk452 vs Rt615 255/40/17

I am getting new tires and came down to these 2. I dont auto-x or track the car, drag very rare. Daily driver, dont have $800 for re1or's so thats out of choice. I pm'ed teh clap. got his idea. Would like some more ideas.

I have stock wheels with tanabe gf210.

Some say dont get 255 on stock wheels, some say go wide or go home

What u guys think, how many miles i will get from rt-615's with street driving?

Some might ask ''if you dont auto-x or track why the hell get wider tires?'' Lil bi more traction on the street and price is only $20-$30 more than 225's.

From having had both sets of tires (but on different cars), the 452's and the 615's are in entirely different leagues. But obviously you already know that....

My opinion - get the 452's if all you do is spirited street driving and the occasional drag (but they'll suck on the strip). They'll last a lot longer, they'll be a lot quieter than the 615's, and they'll still give you very good street performance. Not RE070 or RT615 performance, but still pretty good.

I hope you like mushier sidewalls

Wider tires don't always give you more grip. If the tire has a soft sidewall and you're mounting the tire on a rim that is narrower than the tread (and 255mm = 10 inches), then the sidewall will deform and you may have less grip than on the narrower tire.

In other words, should you decide on the FK452's, I'd go narrower.

I was in the same situation as you, and ended up getting the fk452's as well. My car is my DD, so my major concern is the tread life. So far compared to the stock re070s they are a lot quieter and the ride is much smoother. So far so good
