IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | ok, I recently ran into a guy who was selling his Porsche winter tires. The front 2 was 205/50 R17 and the back two was 225/45 R17. The tire was Dunlop winter sport M2. I'm planing on buying some 17"x7.5" winter rims to fit the STI bolt pattern Here are my questions: 1) Can i fit 205/50 R17 on 17"x7.5"?, If so, who make a 17"x7.5" that fits an 07 STI? 2) Can i fit 225/45 R17 on 17"x7.5"? 3) Is there a problem or am i damaging my car by running two different size tires? i would really appreciate some help here. thank This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 Trader Rating: (6) | You have to run the same size tire on all 4 corners. Yes the 225/45/17 will fit, that's the size that comes stock on the sti good luck Last edited by stiman1; 10-18-2007 at 04:04 PM. |

| Platinum Member | Rota had a couple models in 17x7.5 with a 5x114. Looks like there is the Tarmac II here: STi & WRX Performance Parts: Rota Tarmac II Wheels (17x7.5", 5x114.3), Steel Grey Those tire sizes are actually pretty darn close to the same in overall diameter, you could maybe get away with it. But probably not worth the risk. And used snow tires typically aren't much of a bargain, sometimes the softer tread is all on the outside, as they wear they turn into more of an all-season compound. And the siping typically wears out pretty early on too. (obviously depends on the model, don't know specifically about the M2s.) IMHO you would be much better off looking for some used 17x8s, and go to discounttiredirect.com before Saturday, $100 off any set of tires + free shipping - the Hankook Icebear W300 and Michelin X-Ice are relatively cheap and get pretty good reviews. |

| dances with roads | Rota actually makes a 17x7 5x114.3 wheel that clears the Brembos. If I hadn't found a great deal on almost-new 225/45 Blizzaks I was going to look into going with 205/50's on 17x7's for winter. The narrower tread will give you better bite in deep snow. Whatever you do though please go with the same size tire on all 4 corners. Differentials are expensive! |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | You've got a 07 which means your normal wheel size is 17X8. The 04s were the only ones to have 17X7.5 ...yet the tire size (225/45/17) has always been the same. Wierd huh. |

| dances with roads | For winter tires? For everyone? I have to disagree. Quote:
