Default Tire install; how much did you pay?

Hey guys, i am getting the RE060AS and trying to find a place that will install them the cheapest. I got a quote from the shop that does my oil changes and they want $160 for the installation. They claimed that these wheels are a pain in the ass to work on and its going to take a few hours blah blah. Dealership wants $175, but they are going to give me a loaner and are guaranteed to do a good job. I am very apprehensive about taking my car to Pep Boys or any other ghetto place because i just straight up don't trust them. And I absolutely despise it when those people touch my car; maybe its OCD. Any thoughts, input?

You mean taking the RE070s off and putting your new ones on? Local shop here in Buffalo does $15 a tire, free disposal, 45 minutes tops. Tell them to kick rocks.

if you pay $160/175 for a tire swap you better make sure they will replace anything if it's damaged in the process.

Usually it's $20 or so a tire for mount/balance.

I think i payed $22 a tire for mount/balance (with the inside weights) at some local place. I remember calling around and all the chains wanted me to schedule a couple days in advanced.

if you are having the tires put on rims you care about, spend the extra money and take them somewhere good. And just because it's a subaru dealership doesn't mean they are good.

Well got to meet the dealership mechanic, when he did my struts and he is an older guy. Seems very knowledgeable and takes real pride in his work i had a long convo with him about STi's. Out of all the places i would trust him the most, the $$ just seems a little steep.

I guess from your guys input that if i shop around i could probably get all 4 done for >$120. The problem is that every time i see a shop around here and the "mechanics" are 19 and 20 year old "thug life" kids, i cringe and keep driving. Took me a long time to finally trust the one shop with my oil changes.

So then it seems like a no brainer. Take it to the guy you trust at the subaru dealership, unless you want to take a chance and have your rims messed up.

I remember someone saying that they take theirs to a high end dealership, like porsche, etc. only because the rims they usually work on are so expensive

I paid about $100 to get my tires installed and they damaged my rims and tires. So I don't think you could do worse. I would just get them done at a place you trust and pay any cost. You can put a price on peace of mind.

Also, do you mean RE960A/S or what are RE060AS?
